Austin
I will be in Austin next week, but with no car. What is there to do that is cheap and easy to walk to. Think i am staying in Downtown. I am thinking the Capitol and 6th Street. I'll have about a day to myself

Mike: Why are you going to Austin? I hear it's one of the liberal (i.e. gay) strong holds in red state Texas.
The state capitol is a must. They have free tours starting every 15 mins over the summer. The Texas State History Museum is good if you're a history buff.
I also recommend Stubbs BBQ. The food is good and you must try a Fireman's 4 beer. Its locally made.
There's good canoeing/rowing on Lady Bird Lake and lots of hike/bike trails adjacent. The Segway, ghost, and duck tours are good as well.
