Summer Committments

Been working hard at the gym - proud of myself - about 30 minutes of weights, 30 minutes of cardio. Committed to an hour at the gym each time I go this summer. I've noticed good results.

Also been into yoga. I was reintrigued when my partner's best friend came and was telling how great it was, then as we were fooling around (not like that, she's a girl!) she told me how I needed yoga because I have next to no flexibility. Leaning over and touching my toes is hard. Sit and reach is worse. I found an app that I gel with - it is fast paced - and not all about relaxing. Because honestly, I find yoga anything but relaxing. I like that I can do it while watching TV. I like that I am noticing some improvement in flexibilty.

Hung out with my parents yesterday and today. Went to their house yesterday, then out to lunch today. Good times. Went to a Mexican place. Yum.

My mom is recovering from a hip replacement and its not going well. She's not really that mobile.

I find myself obsessed with The Woody Show on 98.7 - I like all the DJs and find myself listening to the podcast at the gym since I am arriving at the gym after they end during the summer. I find music doesn't do it for me at the gym. I need someone talking to me distracting me from what I am doing. Greg Gory is my fav. Woody and Ravey are next. Sebas is fun too. I like Menace's voice too. Throwback Thursday and the Friday Turn Up are fun.

One of my new fav's I heard on 98.7.

Right now life has calmed down, so I am making plans with a bunch of friends. Remember Foot Fetish? We have come closer than we have been in in a while, and we are trying to have him and his partner over Friday. He has been with him 4 years. I went to FF's birthday last night.

So wish I could go to the big ed tech conference next week. Money got in the way. Boo.

10 years of blogging

I guess my blog is about 10 years old - that's according to Dan in OKC. Met up with him last week.

So here's what's been going on.

School ended, the following Tuesday I headed to the DFW. Such a good time. I went to see my best friend, invited DaninOKC, and went to a teaching conference. So I had a night to myself where I went to Round Up in Dallas. Had a blast. Good country music.

Next day was the conference at an AMAZING high school - this school had everything - I was so jealous. I had a great time learning new things, networking, and enjoying a change of scenery. Second day of the conference was equally good. Thursday night DaninOKC drove down. As he said, we chatted in my room at the hotel, then headed to dinner. Dan was nice enough to appease me and go back to Cedar Springs for a bar called JR's, which had a great patio. Had a few drinks, then headed back to the hotel. It was great to swap stories about work, hear about his college kids, talk about guys, his gardening, and random chitchat. I'm glad he stayed with me since it was nice to have the company and get some sleep. That was the only night I got sleep while in the DFW. Dan is just a nice guy overall, easygoing, into shoes, clothes, and so it made for a great night.

Dan took off in the early AM and I headed to my best friend's house after hitting the fabric store for an art set for his son's birthday. Went to Joe T Garcia's for lunch and had that everclear margarita. We talked a lot about work and what we are both doing specifically. We went to dinner at Root Burger near North East Mall. His kids were all over me and loved me, which was great. They were such well behaved kids at the restaurants. We went back to the house, put the kids to bed, had 32 oz. fuzzy navels. Good times. Met the family back at 11am and we got ready for lunch. Went to McAlister's sandwiches, his wife had green tea for the first time, then went to put the kids to nap. Watched as my friend finished his patio pavers and chatted. Dinner was chicken enchiladas. Friends of theirs came over for his son's birthday party and we watched an episode of Veggie Tales. It was great to reconnect with my friend and his family. He's one of those we can hang out and its like time hasn't passed.

Had an early AM flight to Vegas. Barely made it. Barely. Stupid rental car shuttle didn't drop me off at terminal E like I expected. Shuttle driver was nice and took me. Made it with about 10 minutes to spare. Had a slight delay in Denver before making it to Vegas. Spent the day with my partner and his coworker. Did dinner wtih all his coworkers in the PM. Monday I went to the mall, walked the strip. We did dinner at Giada's, which was amazing. Tuesday was good - much of same and dinner at Gordon Ramsay's, which was terrible. Terrible food, service, and lying about the drinks being ordered from the bar. Yesterday we did brunch buffet, then outlets, and dinner at Rio poker bar/American bar. Home today. Great start to the summer!!!

Post grad outing

Last night was graduation for our students - of course all teachers had to show, and so we decided to go drink after. I did it the previous year with these teachers - it was good - about half the staff that went in the previous year I didn't get along with, and that was the case this time around, too. The ones I didn't like sat at the other end of the table so I didn't have to chat with them. It was good, though, to hang out and spend time with the coworkers.

And looking back now at my archives, seems I came out last year, too.

So anyways, at one point we are sitting at the tables, lots of side conversations are going on, then Big Science Teacher says, "see what those 2 guys are over there drinking?" I reply with a "yeah." He asked me if I would be at their table, if they were my type, and I said, "no." He then asked, "but you'd be at the table with them because you're one of them," and I said yes, yes, I would. He smiled and continued on talking about whatever he was talking about before.

I am not out to a lot on the staff, though I am sure they know. I am out to the program specialist, a math teacher, my roommate, and now Big Science Teacher. This staff is just not the most accepting, and I have fought enough battles that I don't want to make things worse. I mean I am not going to lie if asked, but I am also not going to go around and parade it. And now that Shawn knows, being the loudmouth that he is, I am sure most everyone will know.
