Letter of intent to stay another year

I received a much anticipated form from my VP the other day telling me that they plan to keep me another year at the school I am at. I was elated given the rocky history between the VP and I. One of the veteran teachers warned us to have letters of resignation ready in case we were to not be reelected for another year - that way we could say it was planned and it would not hurt our record.

Now I just have to make it through the layoffs. It is pretty much eminent that I will receive a pink slip by March 15 and won't know for sure if I'll be rehired until May 15.

I feel so glad as I know this year has been such a learning experience -

I have felt like I've grown immensely - and I thought I was a pretty good teacher prior. One of the biggest things I've learned thus far is to be a bitch and not give into what the kids say. I've learned structuring my lessons for kids who don't have an attention span of more than like 10 minutes.

Drinky drink drink drink

FRIDAY
Get over to Mikey's about 3:30 and do some cleaning. He told me he'd be home about 6 and texted me that he was going to stop for food. There goes my plan of date night, but that was ok. He bought fish and made fish tacos. They were with an Asian flair, but weren't bad. They were good enough to also have some for lunch Saturday. We enjoyed margaritas and tacos and fell asleep on the couch about 8:45. We went to bed about 1.

SATURDAY
We got up at 8 and he made a breakfast burrito with lots of cilantro, egg, cheese, and salsa. It was pretty good. He went to get a haircut and I relaxed at the house. He relaxed a little too much and we were late to dinner with our friends B & J. He had to shower and we had to get gas, and air up his tires. We were supposed to meet them at 4:30, but it was 5:30 before we were leaving, and 6 before we made it to the brewery. Jammed to the oldies on the way over... JLo oldies...

Drink 1 at brewery 1 was 9.2% alcohol, B and I were feeling pretty good and so of course we had to Facebook the photos. Back in the cold convertible and off to dinner at Lay-z-Dog, or we thought, but it ended up being a pub where we had fish and chips and tacos. We caught up in each other's lives. Told J about our travels and they told us about theirs. I told B about my man friend, which was hilarious. He got a kick out of it. B and I talk about wanting to go see this singer who was performing nearby, and how there was a groupon to go see her, and how we should have gone, but we each had a significant other who wasn't interested. My older musical tastes also came into the convo, which B also got a kick out of. We hit another brewery and I have 2 more 9%ers with B. By this time we were at the point where we could talk about politics and my boyfriend's views on education, which spurred a rough debate. In the end it wasn't so bad and thank goodness someone was there with the same position I had.

They invite us back to their place and we accept. We all get ready for bed. Mike made me move from the left side of the bed because I was touching and doing inappropriate things with my hand. It was funny. He used my entire name and "scolded" me.

SUNDAY
We were up about 6:45, as were our friends. Yay early risers. Suddenly the touching was ok this morning and we both jacked off and cleaned up using some kleenex, and then showered. We go into the kitchen where we all have coffee and decide on where to go for breakfast. J decides on a horrid pancake house. He thought it was good, his partner did not, as I didn't. We all took out our phones and yelped 2/5 star reviews on yelp. Mine was almost inedible. I had some crepey thingy. We go back to their place and chat about getting together next time at our place. We also chatted about the alcohol. B was feeling the effects and I was ok- no hangover and no headache. I am glad.

We drive home and chat about lots of random stuff, which was fun. We stop by Target. We have some chicken salad that he whipped up as we were both famished. The salad was so-so. I fall asleep on the sleepy couch and wake up as he finishes packing for his trip. We both head out about 3 and I head home for dinner.

Planning our date night

BF should be home soon. I'm planning a little date night- either Italiano or Mexicano. I just want to get out, surprise him, and have a glass of wine or three since it has been one of those weeks.

New car time?

I think so, as does someone else, but at this time when I'm almost guaranteed to be laid off next year it is a no go. Who wants a car payment anyway?

Me.

65,000 on my car and I'd like to get 100,000 out of it, which shouldn't be a big deal considering it is well on its way to that.

I love my car, don't get me wrong, but dropping $800 for 2 new struts, an alignment, and brake fluid flushed was a bit much. It was $500 for tires a few months back, $300 for brakes a few months back. Oh, and it needs to have the transmission fluid flushed soon.

Someone tells me I should just lease my cars so I don't have to pay for anything other than that - and yes - I am driving less since living close to him, but a car payment every month?

I could get something sporty and sexy; something luxurious; something big and boxy; or a blah blah sedan.

And most of this stuff is routine - minus struts - but it is a lot!

My weekend in photos and music

Snow!
Nevada, Utah and Arizona

Dropped $200 at a casino. Never thought I would so soon- sure it wasn't $500, but it was a lot. Stayed in a beautiful room. Lots of heavy snow. Lots of music and good conversation. Got to drive the rental- it was nothing exciting, but I was amused- it was a power thing.

Exposed him to country via my iPod

I know songs many my age shouldn't

It kinda went with the whole rugged theme

She takes 15 minutes to get up - at least

My sister was setting her alarm to get up the other day while she was sitting on my parent's bed brushing her teeth. I noticed there must have been a dozen alarms all with the "on" button checked on her phone.

I know my sister has a history of not being able to wake up even with the assistance of her alarm.

Her alarm goes off at 6am every morning, yet my mom or dad wake her before they leave.

The morning after I saw she had all those alarms my dad was long gone before she woke up. I decided to see just how long it took for her to turn it off. She didn't even move, flench, or do anything when it sounded. After 7 minutes I was tired of it, turn the alarm off myself to the alarm tone, and it goes on for 22 minutes before my mom comes in to turn it off. She yells at my sister to get up. Sister moves. WTF? WAKE THE HELL UP.

My sister's such a dumb thing.

Longing to go back to PV

While I love to travel and experience new places. I still have 30 or so states to visit, Espana, y más. I have found myself however in the past few weeks longing to return to Puerto Vallarta. I had such a great time there. I loved the food and experience. The trip has left a pretty big impression on me in a positive way - much like my trips to NY and Seattle. I have found myself having a couple dreams about Puerto Vallarta, and one of which I was living there with Mike and teaching at a K-8 school, speaking Spanish, and hence I dreamed in Spanish the other night.

Radio Nerd

I am a radio nerd as if you didn't know. Love the radio. Love the DJs. Love the variety of music. Love well programmed stations. One of my newest favorite things is the RadioPup or iHeart Radio apps. I love to get in the car, select a radio station from another part of the country, and imagine I'm there as I drive.

Taxes Done

I did my taxes - on my own - using Turbo Tax. It was surprisingly easy and only took about an hour. I don't know that I received as much back as I expected or had hoped, but I like that I did it myself and feel reasonably confident I got as much back as I could. I've always been skeptical of my dad doing them. This is the first time I've ever received a refund from the state, which is awesome, a nice one, at that.

Best Valentine's Day Song

EVER

Love me some Jim Brickman and Martina.

Surprised my special man with a Valentine's Day card I snuck into his suitcase.

One gal in one of my classes snuck me a Valentine's card discreetly, cause you know in middle school it's not cool to be nice to the teacher.

Where are your traffic reports?

I've blogged before KOLA 99.9 bothers me when they put their commercials before the traffic. I live by traffic reports in many cases. I have 3 different routes I can take home depending on traffic. I have stopped tuning in as frequently because I hate to wait for the commercials. KOLA is now like all the same IE stations, KFROG 95.1, and KGGI 99.1 who all put their traffic reports after the commercials. I find myself tuning into KBIG 104 and KOST 103.5 where I know I can find the traffic reports.

Speaking of 99.9, they also have gotten rid of Fran Wells in the morning. Dave Wylie is doing the traffic instead.

And KIIS FM has gotten rid of Commander Chuck who had been doing traffic on the station for nearly 30 years.

Someone Like You

I am singing that after the wonderful weekend with Mike. It wasn't anything extraordinary, we were pretty laxed. It was just nice being in each other's company.

WEDNESDAY
Spent the evening at Mike's. We fell asleep on the couch about 5 and then woke up about 6, ate dinner, and back to bed about 8:30. We moved into the bedroom about 1:00a.m.

THURSDAY
The day went ok at work. Mike had a lot of work in the evening and so he handled that, booked stuff, and I made some mushroom pasta sauce he had in the cupboard for dinner. I also baked a pumpkin pie because I didn't have cake. Cake. Cake. Cake.

FRIDAY
I texted Mike when I had a second free in the afternoon and he said he wanted to take his car in. I meet him at his house after work, we have to jump the convertible, and then I follow him into the repair shop. I ask where to go and he tells me he needs to go to Home Depot to get grass fertilizer. I drive him there and then decide we will head a couple cities over to a new restaurant that opened. It was a mostly organic restaurant- the drinks were made from a bunch of flowers and natural nectars. I had what was the equivalent of a whiskey sour with some sort of flower and 2 egg whites in it. It was delicious. The food was not bad, but it was not great- it was a new restaurant and they definitely have time to improve. Mike was harsh on it. We had eggplant sliders, sweet potato tots, potato pancakes, and a warm spinach salad.
We go back to the house and hang around- but first stopped at WalMart and Ralphs. No falling asleep on the couch for me.

SATURDAY
Woke up about 8 and got showered after laying in the bed watching news. Mike attempts to make these gluten free pancakes he found in the oven, but they were horrid like cornbread, so he uses some mix he had on hand and followed Ina Garten's oven pancake recipe. IT WAS SOOOOOOOO GOOD!!! The pancakes were like crepes, nice, fluffy, and airy. SO GOOD! We enjoy those, then play around on our computers. We head out about 2. We were on a drive somewhere- we didn't know where. We ended up in a sushi place in Monterey Park. We thought about going to Nordstrom Rack, but didn't. The sushi didn't agree with me at the restaurant. Sea urchin is NASTY. We drove around and stopped at a bakery for cookies and cake bites, sampled those, as we drove around the OC and LA. We were about to go to The Guy's BBQ, which I had been looking forward to, but I decided we needed to run home. I laid on the couch all evening. The sushi did not agree with me. We did venture out to my city for groceries because we were on a drive. We got lots of pasta. We also stopped at the Lincoln dealer in my city because we found an incredible lease on a great car for a great price, and someone was thinking about trading their lease in. He was really tempted to get it... but then we realized the car will be redesigned. It was on the way home from that that I read on facebook Whitney had died. EVERYONE posted it on facebook. I felt such a knot and drop in my stomach as I read that. I was surprised to say the least. We talked about that, her drug use, Bobbay, text Mike's best friend, and then equate this to Michael's passing where we will remember where we were when we heard it. I think we will hear nonstop Whitney in the future, much like Michael.I also think this will be as big as Michael's funeral. I also think Whitney will posthumously get a star on the Walk of Fame. Mike and I are betting. Is that bad? We head home and I crash...

SUNDAY
Woke up at 7, showered, and played around on our computers until nearly 1. We go to the outdoor mall a few cities over and walk around. We wander into Penny's and find some $300 and $200 lamps on sale for $15 a piece. Mike gets them. We didn't think that was the price, but the girl overrode it and didn't question the tag that was on them. Woo! We head home and put them together. First we stop and get some fish since I was craving fish. I buy. We then go home, put the lamps up in the spare bed, then make our Grammy predictions. We both had pretty much the same picks, but I won a couple more. I guess a kiss was all I got out of it. It was good. We watch all of the Grammys, some Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Desperate Housewives. Bed about 11:30, but first we play around some, which was nice.

MONDAY
Up at 7 for him, 8 for me. I bragged I was seeing what sleeping in late while someone showered felt like. He had a coupel calls to handle. I was at my leisure, showered, and ran to CVS because my allergies were going haywire. He texted me telling me I left. I emailed him since he had just sent me an email saying I ran to CVS. I got back and he was still on the phone. I watch TV and he packs for his week away.

Plane Travels

THURSDAY

Drove out to meet Mike and his coworker, M, who was in town. Both of them had been off traveling all week and they had a meeting in our area. I met at her hotel, and she was a well endowed gal, very friendly. She hugged, told me how excited she was to meet me. We talked and Mike drove to our favorite steakhouse to eat. We talk about all sorts of things, her kids, work, our relationship, and drank lots of wine. When Mike stepped away, she told me something that I knew, but to hear it from someone else felt good. She said that she had heard so much about me and whenever Mike talks about me it is with such pride, he has a look in his eyes, and he changes his tone. AAAAAAW. We go back to the hotel and drop her off, his coworker and I hug, and I head home. We get in about 10, watch some TV, and then bed.

FRIDAY

Out of work as soon as I can to meet Mike. Get to his house, gather my stuff, but forget toothbrush and razor. We are off! Stop at Kohls. Off to airport. I park in the lot. We have an hour to kill, and of course I run into someone I know at the airport. Chat them and wait for Mike to drop off his rental. We grab drinks at Fridays.

On the plane to San Fran. Drive to SJose for dinner at Mike's favorite restaurant, a Thai place. It was delicious. We go to get ice cream after and then the hotel for the night and some bonding time.

SATURDAY

Up early, pass Winchezzter House, off to San Fran. We visit the touristy things like Golden Gayte, Pier 39, Embarcadero, then off to Castro, and Mission District for mariscos in a Mexican restaurant. I get sick as we're walking back from dinner. I felt myself getting hot in the restaurant and Mike asked me if I was ok. I said I was. I felt ok. I wasn't. We went in a few stores, then I walked out as he was looking in the store and threw up all over the sidewalk several times. Whatever it was was not pleasant. Mike looks and laughs, asks me if I was ok, and we duck in a CVS for water. I feel better as the night goes on and am able to hold in ice cream later in the night. Of course I'm teased the rest of the night and weekend about it - all in good fun. Grr. LOL.

Song of the weekend above

SUNDAY

Bay Bridge, Occupy, and city of Oaklend. Then off to Frisco to Chinatown, a few museums, and few other things. Watch Super Bowl, then head to 1/2Moon Bay to see what there was to see, discuss Mike's parents trip coming up, and planned that. Then we head to Nordstrom and airport finally. Drive home and sleep.

MONDAY

Long day at work, but it was ok. Meet Mike and plan his parent's visit in detail. I whip up pasta for dinner and fall asleep on the couch about 8 after watching Housewives.

A night of drag with my ladies from work

Lipstick Lesbian and our other teacher friend, Tagalong, we will call her, several support staff, all went to a drag show tonight. Fun times... good food, lots of stuffing dollar bills, posing for pictures, and In-N-Out animal style fries afterward. Bed at nearly midnight. Can you say fun on a school night?!

Unintentional sad song theme
