Songs to get me through the week

Heard this on Dr. Laura's show the other day - yes - Dr. Laura - don't ask. And I haven't heard it in years.

And this song has been in heavy rotation in the car on my partner's phone

And the way Nicki's ass moves in this song... but on another note I burst out singing this in class for my class - only the chorus. They didn't think I knew cool music. I said Nicki was my girl. The voice. Nicki. You just sound so childish.

Because I saw them the other night, and am all over them.

Oh, and all these songs fit so well on my new iPhone 6, which is as sexy as can be.

Weekend getaways

Nearly every weekend between the past 3 and Christmas is booked. So thrilled. Loving it. It is really what is keeping me sane, besides a partner who will listen to me bitch about work, and everything else

Weekend before last was Laguna, which we had mussels at one of our favorite restaurants, then enjoyed wine and a fire in our hotel suite.

Saturday morning we ventured to Phoenix/Tempe/Tucson. Good times. We had nothing but amazing food all weekend. It was relaxing. Was great weather too. Bought lots of good stuff. Making fun of the BF and him making fun of me. Good times.

Next weekend is the all night Knotts Field Trip, and the beach again.

The following weekend we are hanging with our friends J&B, and the weekend after that is a shopping weekend.

Hopefully going to hang out with The Guy Friday. I need to see a friend. Hanging out with my former boss Thursday. Can't wait for either.

Bought a Macbook Air the other day. I had a very old 2007 Mac that I traded in. So far it is hard to get used to the small keyboard.

Songs I am listening to, and you should be too:

Need a massage badly ASAP. My hands have been knotting up lately, and it is hard to make a fist. I got a massage last month, and the therapist only focused on my hands, and it took like an hour to get the knots out. I got a massage last Wednesday, and same situation, she spent the majority of the time on my hands. I have no clue what's going on - i am not really doing anything different, or using my hands in new ways. Therapist on Wednesday said it is possibly knots in my tendons in my elbow, which I never heard of such a thing. Oh well... massage ASAP.

Disappointed I don't have tickets to see George Strait's farewell tour.

Wanting something fun to do for my birthday coming up.

iPhone 5

1. What kind of smart phone do you have?
the new iPhone 5

2. Necessity, accessory or my right arm?
Necessity and accessory - I like to stay in contact, I like to be in the know with news, etc... and who can't resist a sexy iPhone in their hand, and a white one at that?

3. Top three favorite apps?
Pandora, Facebook, Yelp

4. How much do you use your smart phone for calling, texting and data (email, games, movies)?
WWF is a daily thing.
Calling is important too.
Texting - not a fan, but you send me one and I'll send you one back
And internet right in your hands? Sign me up.

5. Phone sex? Sextxting? Hookup apps?
Uh... no.

6. Has your smart phone replaced your camera?
Nope, only when I don't have one nearby

Bonus
It's 3 am. You're in trouble. What's the trouble and who do you call?
My BF or The Guy, then my parents.

16 is not enough

My 16gb iPhone is officially out of space. My iTunes says I am .40GB over capacity however that is possible. I have 10gigs of music on it and lots of apps that I'll use one day. Next time it is 32.

How big is your music collection? Let the music play!

I know that I download/buy more music than I would have with CDs thanks to iTunes. My music collection has 2,582 songs as of today, which are a collection of about 700 songs The Guy gave me, lots that I downloaded legally, and lots off of CDs that I own.

I am amused by the statistics. The 2,582 songs breaks down into 6.6 days of music, and 13.59 gigs. Who has actually sat and listened to all of their music from start to stop?

The 13.59 gigs makes me mad that I cannot have all of my music at my fingertips on my phone. I mistakenly bought the 16 gig iPhone. Lesson learned.

It is a mix of 390 oldies songs, 906 pop songs (anything that isn't oldies or country and includes current pop hits), and 535 country songs, and 551 songs from The Guy that we did not have in common. There are also a few musicals/soundtracks like RENT, Grease, Garden State, and Spring Awakening.

I have 2 television shows downloaded that are an additional 2 gigs.

Who knew we would ever have so much media on our computers and at our fingertips? These little things amuse me.

I know The Guy has well over 10,000 songs in his iTunes collection.

Mike has just about the same amount as I do.

Even my mom has close to 900 songs on her iTunes!

Do you listen to everything that you have? I tend to not. I hate the iTunes DJ only playing the same 25 songs over and over. I have tried the genius mixes and those are somewhat better.

Allergy headaches

My allergy headaches have returned. I have been sleeping most of the evening trying to sleep it off. And I managed thanks to my Coca Cola, migraine medicine, and Tylenol. Ick. If this is only March I am going to have a long, long allergy season.

Oh, and I want an iPad 2. I would love if I could find a way to deduct it on my taxes... I was reading up on the tax laws... I'd be willing to buy ebooks etc. for my laptop, but it seems unless a school requires a computer it is not a tax deductible item...maybe my meager tax rebate check could be put toward the purchase of one?

Fav. iPhone Apps

Stephen, over at State of the Nation UK, has made a list of his favorite apps inspired by an article in the Sunday Times. I decided to list my favorite apps and would love to hear what yours are.

Pandora Radio- Radio custom made for me- artists I like, and few that I don't. I get to tell Pandora which songs and artists I don't like so that they can custom tailor a station just for me.
Shazam- I love the music identification in seconds. It is a great tool to remember a song I want to download, or tag a song that I haven't heard whose title I would like to know.
Macys iShop- Macys coupons 1 click away. Enough said!
Words With Friends- Scrabble! At any one point I have 3-4 Scrabble games going on with bloggers, classmates, and my cousin. I'm pretty good I think. Those of you whom I play with refrain from comments. LOL.
Yelp- I love the restaurant reviews and ratings right at my fingertips. It makes finding restaurants easy.
AT&T Mark the Spot- I have the worst reception and I feel that AT&T should hear about it. A few clicks and AT&T can pinpoint where you are having reception issues, whether it is a data or dropped call issue, and hopefully, maybe make the AT&T network better?
Express Men's Clothing- My Express coupon right there on my phone. Perfect. More stores should put coupons in their iPhone apps- I'd be a fan.
Beejive- All of my instant messaging programs and accounts in one place and the ability to talk with friends on AIM or Yahoo wherever I am.
Amazon Mobile- Do I want to buy the product in a store or can I comparison shop quickly right there and see that amazon has it cheaper?

What are some of your favorite apps?

Playing hookie!

I got a couple simultaneous texts from The Guy this morning. He asked what was up, then said let's hang out, he was playing hookie. I texted him back saying I'd join in. It was about 9:45 at the time, I threw on some clothes, and was on my way. I was there within 45 minutes.

I get to his place and give his dogs some love. He is on the phone with the company behind Warcraft trying to deal with some issue. He logs into Warcraft and stuff. He asks me what's going on. I tell him I've been busy with landscaping projects. I laid sod the other day, trimmed and pruned geraniums that we are wanting to get rid of. He told me he was just hanging out with Robert, his new boy, and all is well. He told me things we could do today- Best Buy, doggie day care, AT&T store. I said yes, yeah, sure, and shook my head to give my approval. We get the dogs ready, and head out.

In the car we discuss the Elena Kegan Supreme Court Nomination. He tells me how he watched the hearings the 2nd day, but didn't get to watch yesterday. I said I had just seen bits and pieces shown on TV, like her sense of humor, which was cool because she seems much more down to earth than others on the court. We talked about some bad SC rulings as of recent like the Bush v. Gore, and how they seem disconnected from the general population as of recent. We take the freeway over to the dog place, which seemed to take longer in my opinion. Drop the dogs off.

We return home for a few moments as The Guy forgot his wallet. We head back out to the AT&T store, which was in Mexican town, according to The Guy- it was just down the street from him. I am on my phone trying to google where it is. I have to say the service was sooooooooooooooooo much better than any other AT&T store I've ever been to. Personally when I shop I tend to go to the more Hispanic areas- I find the employees are much friendlier. The girl who helped us was young, cute for a girl, helpful, and very flirty. We were flirting with her. The Guy got his iPhone for Robert, which he is not paying for, his boyfriend is on a month-to-month prepay phone, and wants to pay. The Guy got his parents iPhones straightened out, and bought one of the 3G coverage extender you plug into your router for work.

We both sang along to "Battlefield" by Jordin Sparks. He loooooves the song, and I like the song a lot too mainly because my cousin has a special connection to the video.

In the car again and off to Best Buy where we find another friendly gal who helps us find 5 cases for the new phones, 5 car chargers, and then we check out the washer and dryers. The Guy has the front loading LG washers that look cool, but really aren't. He has to wash his clothes 4-5 times to get the mold smell out of them, he has mold growing in the washer, he wipes it dry after each wash. The salesman was most unhappy there unwilling to budge in price, although The Guy would buy the washer, dryer, extended service plan, and the drawers the appliances sit on. He was going to try out Samsung's front loading instead of LG. After 20 minutes of arguing and questioning we get the cases and car chargers, then take off.

We go through the drive through at Carls for bottled waters because "we're like on a diet, and we need our Pepcid AC."

We hear this catchy song, which we sing the "hurry, hurry" part.
Happiness- Alexis Jordan

We decide to go out to Victoria Gardens for the Apple Store. We get an iPad with 3G for The Guy for work, and get his phone looked at since the proximity sensor didn't seem to be working. Of course it wasn't failing when the manager was looking at it. We made a couple test calls to each other. The Guy is also having issues where he can't send picture texts, the phone just says "saving photo." I bragged my phone is just perfect, because for once it is. I have had 1 dropped call in 1 week, and I don't believe the dropped call that I had was my fault. This is from someone that had 50%+ dropped calls. The Guy has an appointment Tuesday for his phone. The manager was actually somewhat helpful for a change. That lady is hard to deal with. We talked about how nice she was, and how sometimes people are just really having a bad day. This related to a story we were talking about earlier when The Guy cornered a trainer at his gym about an insensitive comment about fat people, and all fat people have bad lives and things like that, or something.

We are starved by this time, so head back to The Guy's place. It was 3, and we had been out since a little after 11. Time flies when you're having fun. We do make a quick jaunt to Home Depot where they only have the LG washers and dryers- no Samsungs. The Guy gets the out the door price, and he would save over Home Depot. At Home Depot the employees did tell The Guy of course there will be mold and water issues with front loading because there is no agitator. The Guy is basically sold on the cool design.

We get back to The Guy's place and cart all the boxes in that had arrived- clothes from The GAP, Amazon, and a bunch of other stuff. We put that stuff away somewhat, but never get a bite to eat. The Guy had to jump in the shower and take off to his training appointment.

Phone and weekend

I didn't hear from The Guy last night, but I was bound to today I knew. He impatiently spent the day waiting for his phone. I was at home doing schoolwork for my Thursday night class. I was off and on on facebook. He sent me a message and instant message on there asking how it was, then triple teamed me by calling me asking how it was. I picked up the phone and said "it's sooooo pretty!!!" I told him about the beautiful screen that is so crisp and clear. I told him that the text is a lot easier to read. I said that the apps seem to load faster, especially Grindr. He was jealous. I was using every opportunity I could to rub it in his face about how nice it was. He was not having it. He was telling me how he never does that to me, how he needed me over there to wait for his phone and sign for UPS so he could go wait at Victoria Gardens at the Apple Store. Sorry sweets, it doesn't work that way. We chatted for about 45 minutes about the phone and at the end there he told me how he had never seen me be so selfish and rub something in his face, and it was obvious how much pleasure I got out of it. I burst out laughing because it was so true. Then I shot him a few more texts throughout the day like where I showed off the camera and what it could do. Here's a pic I shot of the geraniums outside. It really came out so crisp!

He called me on my way to school about 4:55 after he just opened up his phone wanting to try out Facechat, but I was in the car driving nowhere near WIFI. We shall try that another time.

So here's the lowdown on the weekend- I'm excited!

Friday:
- Find a birthday card for Gonzo and TGI Fridays gift card
- Buy a Dodgers t-shirt or jersey
- Dodger game Friday night, which is Dodgers/Yankees, GO DODGERS!!!
- Any ideas about the best freeway exit for the stadium? It will only be my 2nd time there, and I'm sure everyone and their mother are going to this game. I'm in an argument with a friend over whether to take the 5 to Stadium Way or the 110 to Dodger Stadium exit. I think the 101 to 110 just because the 101 and 110 are wider than the 5, and everyone takes the 5.

Saturday:
- Gonzo's birthday dinner at Olive Garden and Eddy's for drinks

And my neighbor and I haven't caught each other online or on facebook, but he did send me a message on AIM after I signed off, so it went to my cell phone the other night asking if I'd suck him off. When he asks again the reply will be yes... haha

It came

The FedEx site annoyed me all morning since they weren't updating tracking information. Long about 2p.m. it was updated that my phone had been attempted to be delivered at 9:30 this morning, but the post office was closed. I went to the post office before at 1:30 since I usually see FedEx there around that time, and they had been by already, but Anita at the counter told me that they brought all of the ground and express packages, overnight would be delivered later if there were any.

I chatted with The Guy and told him my phone was coming today. He was butt hurt, and downright jealous. His phone isn't scheduled to arrive for a while. He was wondering how I managed to get in to get mine, and he wasn't. He tried on the Apple site and ended up having to go through AT&T. We joked with each other about jealousy being a disease, that I would invite him if I had to take a trip over to Ontario to Fed Ex to pick it up if it didn't arrive- how he couldn't go because he was green with envy, and stuff like that.

I went to check the mail again at 5:50, and the red slip was in my box indicating we had a package. I signed my John Hancock at the desk, then danced with joy as I made my way out of the post office. Literally. I shot a text to The Guy with a photo of the box. He told me he was excited or something.

I came home to unwrap it and made a video of it that I realized I could not send to The Guy unless I were to do it by youtube or email of me unwrapping the phone. I'd post it on here, but there's my voice, face, and other stuff. He was also probably not in the best moods since he was going to therapy, and I'm sure the "It's pretty!" I sent a short while ago didn't help. He doesn't handle jealousy well. When am I ever again going to get a Mac product before him?!

So it is a pretty phone. It has a pretty screen. Pretty is what I have used over and over describing the phone, so I think Pretty is it's name. The feel being more square doesn't hold in your hand as well, but the software upgrade has some cool things like if you have assigned photos for your contacts their photo will show up in your email and call. The text on the screen is very easy to read. The folders option is nice too- I have most of my games in 1 folder, all the Apple installed utilities in another. So far reception seems to be ok- I haven't made a call- but I've had full 3G coverage most of the night with the exception of when I had it in my hand earlier. It would go from full 3G to no bars on the Edge network. This can be because the titanium bar going around the phone is an antenna. See the video below for an explanation.

iPhone Reserve

I was up at 7 this morning trying to reserve my phone, but could not get past the AT&T portion of the Apple site where they look up your AT&T account information for renewal and service plan information. I spoke to The Guy, and the way to get around that is to reserve a phone at least at an Apple Store via their new iPhone Apple Store app. I did that, now will have to go through the activation and service plan information in the store. I'm sure it'll be a mess then too.

Edit 5:21pm: I chatted with The Guy about 3:40 and he was just finally able to order his phone on the AT&T website. Basically it says they are not guaranteeing delivery on the 24th. I tried about a half a dozen times since I got home and I was finally able to put a phone in my cart and order. It took 2-3 rounds to pay for it, but managed. I have a confirmation number. I've yet to get a confirmation email. My luck is the phone will arrive after the 25th. We shall see.
