A little bit of everything

So... the GarthFather is back in the AM on CBS2. Finally. I enjoy him - they don't give him enough to show his fun personality, there, though.

Meanwhile, Bri continues to be frumpy on KABC 7.

Bri is less FrumpY here. This was yesterday morning. I just can't stand her. I literally turn the channel, see what is going on, and then wait until Alysha comes on to get my traffic. Alysha wears whatever she has on well. She is smart, she loves her Waze.

Jessica Holmes on KTLA is just as annoying as Bri. I can't watch KTLA beginning at 7. Jessica doesn't seem LA at all.

And let's talk about Ginger Chan. I picture Ginger Chan a lot like me, try to be relatable, personable, and connect with whatever was being talked about as she segues into traffic. She just gets on my nerves at times. I do like Ginger because she has worked her way up over the years - Filling in for Chuck Street, working weekends at KFI doing news, and now this.

This is probably just a KTLA thing - she always seem so distant from the rest of the anchors because she is over in her traffic center and has no communication really with them. It is kind of weird.

I really love Greg Gory on ALT 987 - the morning traffic reporter on the Woody Show. He's a Log Cabin Republican, and many of his views, are things I agree on. He has an interesting story. I'm listening more to the Woody Show these days than Valentine, and I love me some Sean Valentine.

So there's lots going on at work - I know - you're tired of hearing it.

The cool stuff about work is I am so much more confident about using my Spanish en mi clase después mi viaje a Mexico during Spring Break. I am now conducting my entire Spanish class en Espanol. In mis conversaciones diarios I am using my Spanglish.

I had some asshole come into my class today - I'd never seen him before. After like 10 minutes of me talking - I was talking in Englihs only since this was day 1, then he goes, "this is Spanish?" I said it is. He said "oh hell no, not no white guy is gonna teach me some Spanish." I said this white buy knows more than you. He told me he was not going to do anything for me, he was going to screw around, and "not no white bitch boy is going to teach him Spanish." He then went on that I'm arrogant, I'm a bitch, and "he doesn't like white bitches." I asked if he was harassing me because "me gusta escribir referrals," and sent the ass out on a referral.

LA Morning News has become unwatchable

KABC 7

I never knew how much Garth's impact made an impact on how watchable the morning news was. Bri Winkler has the personality of a wet sponge with no personality - "oh that's lovely, that's beautiful." Did you see how bad she was during the Spark of Love Toy Drive? Alysha DelValle carries the show now. Kristen Aldridge is still unwatchable and doesn't have any chemistry with the rest of the staff.

KTLA
I can watch KTLA between 4 and 7, but Ginger Chan always seems so distant and doesn't have much chemistry with the rest of the talent. I love Henry and don't mind Megan Henderson.

KTLA is more watchable now that Jessica Holmes is on maternity leave. I hope she decides to not come back. No joke.

She needs to do something with her hair. She needs to get a more mature look. She needs to get a personality.

If Lynette Romero were on, it would be much more watchable.
EEEW... as I was writing this I flipped to KTLA and saw Blond Dumb was on. I'm flipping to CBS This Morning.

KNBC

I despise Whit Johnson - he doesn't seem to know alot. He just seems like a pretty boy who we are supposed to think is cute. Daniela Guzman is always absent it seems and Michelle Valles if filling in. Alexis DelChiaro doesn't resonate with me, she is just dumb. She just talks about mindless stuff. Look at her demo reel. And who is this weather girl Shanna? She is on a lot, as
are a lot of other strange looking people KNBC is finding.

The news writing is not bad, and I like the whole "while you were sleeping" thing

KCBS

I can stand Rick and Sharon. I like Stephanie Simmons. Rick and Sharon have been around in LA for a long time. Sharon has been here since the mid 90s, and we expect her to not be the smartest, but she has an LA look to her.

Evelyn Taft is relatively smart, and may be good looking, and I can take it.
I just wish they had more reporters on KCBS in the morning for more live and local coverage.

Stephanie seems smart and owns it.

KTTV

I can't stand the 7-9 bimbos - Araksya Karapeteyan and Lisa Breckenridge and Maria Sansone. Their format where they give opinions on the story is terrible considering these ladies know nothing.

Maria Sansone just creeps me out. Those eyes.

And why is Rick Dickert back in studio in the mornings? I like him in the helicopter. He carries the show and makes KTTV watchable between 4:30 and 7. He's got looks and personality, and is a SHARP dresser. This morning he had on black pants, a shirt and tie, and sweater. He looked quite dapper.

Huntington Beach HS Bully

http://ktla.com/2015/09/24/huntington-beach-high-student-arrested-for-allegedly-beating-visually-impaired-teen-video-of-incident-goes-viral/

This fight has made lots of news over the past few days since it is close to home, it involves a student who is nearly defenseless (often happens in fights, but this one is more heartbreaking in my opinion because the student can barely see).

Now, personal opinions, should the student, Cody, who stepped in be suspended from the football team? No. He was standing up for someone and doing something that we would want all people to do. Cody is awesome in my mind because I don't know the victim, but he is standing up for someone who was defenseless.

What does the law say? First, the school, like many, has a zero tolerance policy. Anyone involved in a fight is to be suspended. I could go into the history of the zero tolerance policy within schools, but let's talk about a few things. In zero tolerance cases this acts in conjunction with ed code, and any student involved is suspended regardless of circumstances.

There are other elements the media is not addressing - Filming fights has changed the nature of them. Under zero tolerance, but also state law,  anyone who films or is standing around as a witness is also supposed to be suspended. I wonder if they are in this case.

So as an administrator I would have to put my biases aside because I think that Cody should not be suspended, but the law is what I have to follow:

Cody, the bully, and the victim, under zero tolerance requires that they be suspended under 48900 A

The bully would be suspended under 48900 R, 48900.4B, which would also mean the bully would be referred to the police and most likely cited.

Ed code is below:
48900. A pupil shall not be suspended from school or recommended
for expulsion, unless the superintendent of the school district or
the principal of the school in which the pupil is enrolled determines
that the pupil has committed an act as defined pursuant to any of
subdivisions (a) to (r), inclusive:
   (a) (1) Caused, attempted to cause, or threatened to cause
physical injury to another person.
   (2) Willfully used force or violence upon the person of another,
except in self-defense.

 (r) Engaged in an act of bullying. For purposes of this
subdivision, the following terms have the following meanings:
   (1) "Bullying" means any severe or pervasive physical or verbal
act or conduct, including communications made in writing or by means
of an electronic act, and including one or more acts committed by a
pupil or group of pupils as defined in Section 48900.2, 48900.3, or
48900.4, directed toward one or more pupils that has or can be
reasonably predicted to have the effect of one or more of the
following:
   (A) Placing a reasonable pupil or pupils in fear of harm to that
pupil's or those pupils' person or property.
   (B) Causing a reasonable pupil to experience a substantially
detrimental effect on his or her physical or mental health.
   (C) Causing a reasonable pupil to experience substantial
interference with his or her academic performance.
   (D) Causing a reasonable pupil to experience substantial
interference with his or her ability to participate in or benefit
from the services, activities, or privileges provided by a school.

Sometimes as an administrator things happen that you disagree with, but you have to act based on the laws of district and state, and that's how it would have to be handled. And not following those laws puts you out of a job. Decisions like this anger me.

Kristen Aldridge

Another reason I can't watch ABC 7 after Garth Kemp left, their new social media specialist with news and entertainment drives me up the wall.

Morning News

I used to love my morning news, the KTLA Morning News, Good Day LA, and GMA. I loved Michaela Pereira and Frank Buckley, and could stand watching them. Frump then took over the anchor chair when Michaela went to CNN. I can't stand Frump, that's my name for her, Jessica Holmes. She looks so out place most of the time. She doesn't have a real news background. She doesn't have weather certifications like CBM.

This was her past before coming to KTLA:

She cannot get off the set fast enough. I hope she takes a really long maternity leave and Lynette Romero fills in the entire time. I could stand that. I could watch the show for maybe more than 10 minutes to get the top headlines.

I can't watch Good Day LA post Dorothy and Jillian. I just don't like any of the people on there. It seems like bimbo hour.

I find these days I watch KTLA for 10 minutes at the top of the hour to get the news, then head to GMA or CBS. It would be nice if there were a local show to watch, one that had a little less frump, and fewer bimbos.

Garth and Robert are gone

To make a shitty day at work worse, Robert Holguin and Garth Kemp are gone from ABC7. I'm saddened.

I wonder who will replace Garth. The only weather anchor in LA at the present that is as interesting/exciting is Rick Dickert. Maybe someone outside?

Jonathan Novack might be ok. I cannot stand, and would totally stop watching in the morning if Bri Winkler took over for Garth. Cannot stand her.

Local/national/world news

I remember the good old days of watching KCAL Prime 9 News with Pat Harvey and David Jackson.

David Jackson would be in the field reporting from somewhere in California.

I remember later Kerry Kilbride and Jane Velez Mitchell. Jerry Dunphy was at 9pm.

The first hour, 8pm, they would focus on stories specifically about California, local news/issues, what was going around the state. 9pm would focus on nationwide news, and 10pm was world news if I recall correctly.

Why don't stations do that at 4, 5, and 6pm? There's some days I watch the news and it is so repetitive. Definitely cover the most important stories at the top of each hour that have a local impact, then tell us what is going on around the nation and world. I am sure it has to do with limited resources, but there's sources news stations can turn to (AP, affiliates, etc.) for content.

Why not just call Eyewitness News at 11pm the Elex Michaelson Show?

Last night Elex was on 2 stories - some pursuit or maybe it was the Kyle Kraska story, and then a girl with down syndrome receiving a bunch of birthday cards. In the last 30 seconds of the story it is so awkward when he is like yelling at Ashley, and asking for a high 5. He is just so awkward. He cannot do human interest stories.

Tonight he is on a guide dog for the blind story and the Bob Simon death story. OMG. I can't watch him.

I am now watching CBS2 at 11 as of tonight. I've had enough of him.

Top 13 LA Anchors

Thrillist released a list of what it thought were the top 13 newscasters in Los Angeles.
Not everyone agreed with the list. KTLAentertainment reporter Sam Rubin wrote on his facebook page, “In what is clearly an error of judgement of the highest order not a single KTLA on-air staffer is included in what can only be described as a bogus baker’s dozen.”
Here’s the list from 13 to number one: 13) Steve Edwards 12) Fred Roggin 11) Pat Harvey 10) John Ireland 9) Dave Bryan 8) Bri Winkler7) Marc Brown 6) Fritz Coleman 5) Jim Hill 4) Colleen Williams 3) Chuck Henry 2) Christine Devine and #1) Dallas Raines.

I disagree completely with this list - here are my 13, and my list in my opinion has much more merit.

13. Dave Lopez (KCBS/KCAL) - He doesn't anchor, but he's a reporter. He is one of the best around. He always tells the story differently than any competitor, finds the human interest in it, and gives sides a lot of reporters don't.
12. Pablo Pereira (KTTV 11) - Famous background - grandpa has Oscar awards. He focuses on atmospheric science stories, drives an electric RAV4, is sexy, and knows his stuff. He's been on KABC, KNBC, and KTTV. He knows LA.
11. Garth Kemp (KABC 7) - Keeps me entertained, knows his weather, and likes animals. Oh, and my mom likes him, which says a lot.
10. Henry Dicarlo (KTLA 5) - He knows when to be funny, when to be serious. He is a sharp dresser and damn sexy. He is also a meteorologist and sports guy.
9. Rick Dickert (KTTV 11) - He may be young looking, but he's damn sexy, he is versatile and does traffic/weather. He was the first Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in LA. He is sometimes heard on NPR.
8. Alysha DelValle (KABC 7) - She's all LA. She is a sexy latina. She knows alternative routes. She shouts out to her WAZE users every morning.
7. Robert Holguin (KABC7) - Anchor and reporter. Great and knowledgeable storyteller.
6. Dallas Raines (KABC 7) - His moves, his suits, his weather knowledge.
5. Marc Brown - (KABC 7) - Anchor and reporter. Covered most major events in the city since the 90s.
4. Michelle Tuzee (KABC 7) - Professional, always dressed professionally.
3. Rick Chambers (KTLA 5) - I remember him covering the LA Riots, I remember his suspenders he used to wear. He is professional
2. Colleen Williams (KNBC 4) - A fixture on LA news since the 80s, credible and reliable.
1. Pat Harvey (KCBS 2) - Versatile, classy, great anchor, always professional dress, and great storyteller

In regards to what Sam Rubin said about no KTLA people on the Thrillist list,  I am not surprised. Few people probably know about Frank Buckley's CNN days. I can't call Courtney Friel, Chris Schauble, Megan Henderson or Jessica Holmes authoritative or good anchors. Micah Ohlman, I mean he's Paul Moyer's nephew. Paul Moyer would have made the list, but Micah acts like he is trying too hard.

How the hell is Christine Devine #2? I have chronicled my dislike for her over the years

And Bri Winkler? She's small market. She came from like Amarillo, Texas. I can assure you it is not for her forecasting abilities.

Fritz Coleman is hard to watch, though he is a fixture in LA, and a comedian.

I do like Fred Roggin and John Ireland - both are versatile and have radio shows, and extensive sports knowledge.

Take a moment to enjoy The View

I am a morning TV junkie. Love my GMA and CBS Morning News. Today Show is a no-go until my favorite drunks, Hoda and Kathie. I flip back and forth between Hoda and Kathie, and The View. After all the stories about the ratings and the rumored firing of Rosie Perez, I decided to vent about my thoughts:

My team:
Rosie O, Whoopi, Eva Longoria, Nicole Wallace

- I like Rosie Perez, but if they're going for a latina, how about Eva Longoria? She has the credentials - restauranteur, actress, opinionated, a degree in Chicana studies.

- The ratings are down because there are no big fights this year. There are, but they're shut down, and Whoopi throws it to commercial. Let them continue. That's why I watch.

Elex

When did Elex Michaelson become ABC7's lead reporter at 11? I have to turn overtime he is on. I cannot watch him. He makes me cringe. He often needs a haircut. Tonight he was doing a breaking news story, and I had to turn the channel. I turned to Beverly on Channel 4 to tell me about it.

Last weekend as he was anchoring the weekend news I couldn't take it. I cannot watch him. He's just difficult to watch.

Maybe its his head movement? Too full of himself?

Today Show vs. GMA

So I'm a morning news junkie. We know that. Often, when Mike is gone I'm up at 4am watching the KTLA Morning News as it comes on, flipping over to Alysha and Garth on ABC7 because the weather and traffic gal just make my morning.

I didn't watch the Today Show until high school. Matt and Katie. I enjoyed them. Al was whatever. Meredith was great too. I would always flip back and forth between that and GMA. I liked Charlie and Diane, then Diane and Robin.

After Meredith left I was solely an ABC watcher. George Stephanopolous, Robin Roberts, Josh Elliott, and Sam Champion had such great chemistry together, and were fun to watch. After Josh left it became hard to watch. Bringing Michael Strahan on? That was jumping the shark. He is tough to watch. He doesn't fit into my morning. He's not a news guy. I can somewhat stand Lara. I still watch GMA or CBS. CBS does real news, and I like that.

GMA continues to drive me crazy. Amy Robach has zero personality and Ginger Zee has her moments. I was hoping that Juju Chang or Bil Weir would be on in mornings. I remember when Bil Weir used to be in LA. Loved watching him, he's a looker, and great sense of humor. GMA I feel needs someone with a little more personality in there to read the news in the mornings.

Savannah Guthrie is imposible to watch. I was hoping after all these rumors that have come up over the past few days about the radical changes at the Today Show were true. Willie Geist would be gone. He's tough to watch. Here's the changes I would make

7-9am - Matt and Tamron Hall, Natalie Morales reading the news
9-10 - Natalie Morales and Josh Elliott, or Josh would be great reading the news on the 7-9am
10-11 - Hoda and Kathie, you can't separate them, they remind me it is ok to drink wine before noon.

TV and Radio Observations

Anyone ever watch "The People's Couch" on Bravo? Anyone seen the Egbert family, the 2 guys, who are sons, who are always laying in their parent's bed, in between mom and dad? Weird.

Radio

- I am so glad Kristin Cruz from the Mark & Kristin show on KOST 103.5 is gone. I could not stand another moment about her talking about her kids, her firefighter, or her sandpaper voice.

- I cannot stand Bruce Scott in the afternoon on KOST. He just seems a little fruity. Keri Steele is just hella annoying too. I avoid KOST a lot these days.

- Oh, and another reason why I avoid KOST is their traffic bed. They've added the most annoying and grating music to the bed during the traffic report. It sounds like they took the music from One Republic's Counting Stars and have that behind Mike Nolan giving the traffic.

- I miss RaqC and Nachin en Exitos 93.9 y all the Spanglish. Listen to the clip from Exitos below. How awesome is all that Spanglish? That's pretty much como I talk on a daily basis.

- Radio stations that place the commercials before the traffic reports bother me. I am not going to stick around to wait for a traffic report - I will flip to another station.

- KIIS is so formulaic sounding in the morning - not a Ryan Seacrest in the morning fan, but I do like him, only on TV I've decided.

- My favorite radio stations right now are 100.3 KSWD, The Sound. Lots of music, lots of not regularly played classic rock, great features like Peace Love and Sunday Mornings, Triple Play Thursdays, and My Turn.

- KOLA is good, but their playlist, even though they have gone 90s too, is so limited. They could add in groups like TLC, Gin Blossoms,  Mariah Carey (other than Always Be My Baby), Nirvana, Alanis Morisette, Paula Cole. KOLA also needs more 80s. They should add in a few 60s like KEARTH does with Beatles and Beach Boys, along with Motown.

- I like Jesse Duran and Irma in the morning on KOLA. They're fun and energetic.

- Meanwhile on another IE station, KGGI, I cannot stand John Magic, Weavey, and Evelyn Erives. He just doesn't appeal to me. Diana Weavey is so small market sounding. KGGI no longer plays old school.

- And other morning shows - I don't like the Woody Show on ALT 987. Their features like the Redneck news are fine, but they talk so much about like how bad humanity is. I know it is, but I just don't find them relatable.

- Anytime I need a Woody I can go to Heidi and Frank on 955 KLOS, and they are always talking about sex in some way or another. The other morning they were talking about a survey about people liking to do it while their favorite shows are on so they don't miss out on the shows. Like WTF, really, people? LOL.

- I continue to loathe KFROG's limited playlist, the Frogmen in the Morning talk about the same thing everyday - their kids, school, and well, it's boring.

TV

- KTLA just hired Nerissa Witherspoon Knight - the former KNBC morning anchor who had a big 130 market fall to Beaumont Texas after her KNBC days. And she was probably where she belonged. She was painful to watch. WTF is KTLA thinking?

- KTLA is on a bimbo hiring spree it seems right now. Courtney Friel. Nerissa.

- KTLA should have Vera Jimenez or Ginger Chan occasionally stand in front of the traffic map, instead of inside the traffic center. I like that. Watch my girl Alysha below...

- Love me my Alysha, Garth, Leslie, and Phillip in the morning on ABC7. I am constantly changing the channel between ABC7 and the KTLA crew 4-7am crew. I can't stand Jessica Holmes, so after 7, I am watching CBS or ABC. Henry DiCarlo is hilarious. I can't watch KABC with Bri Winkler on. She's amateur, at best. Chris Schauble doesn't even bother me that much on KTLA now.

Have to admit, I used to have a hard time watching Leslie Sykes, but she has grown on me, and I enjoy her in the morning.

- And Good Day LA is unwatchable. PERIOD.

- Oh, and I haven't watched KNBC in a hot minute also. They're just a mess over there. Anette Arreola, Gadi Schwartz, Tony Shin, and Michelle Valles. All amateurs at best, and really do not know SoCal when they talk.

Radio Post

I <3 iHeartRadio, radiopup, and Radio.com apps for my iPhone that let me listen to other stations across the country, and here's a few observations.

Many midwest country stations are much better programmed than KFRG or KKGO here in the LA metropolitan area as many play 80s, 90s, and today. I found one station in Montana playing Chris Ledoux, Patti Loveless, and others I grew up listening to when at my grandma's house.

Best programmed stations in my opinion:

Jersey 101.5 - Jersey's talk station, but in the late night hours they go to a classic hits format with a lot of Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons and Grassroots mixed in.

WSOC 103.7 Charlotte - Interesting DJs and an excellent mix of country songs have had me listening in the early morning hours out here in Cali

Z100 NY - I like their song previews prior to every commercial break and frequent traffic reports make me feel like I'm in NYC even if I'm not. Elvis Duran's show has a lot of callers and is fast paced, which I like- the topics discussed also interest me. A nice mix of old hits sprinkled in... A nice alternative to KIIS FM en Los Angeles

KCBS 880 - One of my other favorite late night listens that make me feel like I'm in the Bay Area with their frequent traffic updates.

Star 94.1 and Star 101.3 in San Diego and the Bay Area area are KBIG 104's sister stations and much better programmed in my opinion as there is much more variety. KBIG has been trying with a few flashback hits, but there's still a long ways to go for the repetition.

Many of the stations I've listened to in Chicago, Florida, and Phoenix, and Vegas sound very current and not a lot of variety regardless of genre.

Media Update

Since it has been MONTHS since I have told you all about LA news... I haven't been watching as much since I'm with Mike... lol

KCBS/KCAL
- New hunky anchor Rob Schmitt is their weekend guy from Florida
- Sandra Mitchell from the afternoon news on KCAL has breast cancer and is blogging about the experience. Always liked her. Best of luck to her through this fight!

KNBC
- Sean Murphy needs to go ASAP. Still can't stand his no suit jacket look and no personality.
- Byron Miranda is back and is entertaining, very professional, he should replace Elita in the morning
- Lucy Noland, their new anchor from Texas is now anchoring at 12 and 6pm
- KNBC brought back their midday newscast at 12

KTLA
- Wendy Burch, Wendy all about me Birch is now the host of the KTLA Morning News weekend... joy
- Their weekend morning news, as does their morning news, seems to lack content

KABC
- Lisa Hernandez is on her way to Texas and no longer can my dad say John Gregory and she look like brother and sister
- Indra Petersons is still gone... good... Jennifer Robbins is doing weekend morning weather and is much better in my opinion than Indra
- KABC also just hired a new behind the scenes blond weather girl from Texas whose name I can't remember

KTTV
- KTLA has a new 5pm news show that is not your dad's 5pm news... this is Good Day LA meets TMZ and is horrid with Liz Habib, Jeff Michael, Lisa Breckenridge, and Ed Laskos... hard to watch

The most popular question I get on my blog

I often get emails asking me the following- more than any other type of email- I rarely get any emails from people wanting to chat about sexuality, getting to know me, instead I get this:

Do I know Jason Martinez?
Am I Jason Martinez?
Do I know how to get in contact with this hottie?
Am I his boyfriend?
Is he straight or gay?

Jason Martinez was a reporter/anchor for a short time at KTLA in Los Angeles before a brief stop in Denver and now is in Miami, Florida. I saw his reports a few time via the satellite station on our cruise ship back in April. He was looking good.

I blogged about him quite a bit and pretty much became the go to source online. I would get 25-50 hits a day about him. I still get an email or two a week about whether or not I know him, I am him, or if I know how to get in contact with him.

He is now a morning reporter in South Florida.

For the record I don't know Jason. I am not Jason. I don't know how to get in contact with him. I am not his boyfriend, but wouldn't mind being, and the chances of that are highly unlikely as he is straight. Let this feature serve as a highlight that he is straight.

It was cold in LA last night...

0 degrees at 11:02pm according to ABC 7 Eyewitness News.

Mini media update

Chris Schauble is now on KTLA taking over the 4:30-7am time slot. I still don't like him and I was reminded upon seeing him on KTLA how much I dislike him. I will not be watching whenever he is on. His hands still drive me crazy, especially as I watched him doing stand ups away from the anchor desk. He is not weekday talent. He is small market.

The sexy Robert Kovacik was filling in for Chris on his now vacated weekend seat this past weekend.

Maria Quiban is back from maternity leave and looking good!

KCBS/KCAL has a new hottie from South Florida named Rob Schmitt.

Media Notes

Ryan Fox will take over for Ginny Harman on KKGO, Go Country 105, starting on Monday morning. He is a big country DJ in Dallas who seems to be pretty well known. Thank goodness. Ginny Harman and Ashley Paige drove me crazy in the morning. It was like an estrogen party every morning that I could not listen to. Ashley Paige will still be on the show, and should be great since she is good at playing devils advocate instead of agreeing with everything the other DJ says, like Harman.

Speaking of GoCountry, they now have a food truck. They are bragging they are the first radio station in the country to have one. Shouldn't they focus on music? I can't say I have much desire to try the food.

Sean Murphy still has not found a damn suit jacket. Its winter! And something about the way he dresses, perhaps the Dockers pants just looks so tacky. And many times he wears combinations of shirts and pants that just don't look good.

KTLA has a slew of new reporters including this dude from Sacramento. Originally it seems he is from the New Orleans and has a deep southern drawl at times and that seems to go with his overdramatizing every story. Oh, and his eyes are pretty eerie to watch.

Elizabeth Espinosa of KTLA was also voted off of "Your OWN Show" on Friday night. She was competing for her chance for her own show on the OWN, Oprah Network.

KABC 7 has a new reporter named Elex Michaelson. Usually I like the new hires at ABC 7, but this guy is pretty bad. His bias is evident in many stories, such as one he did about the Mosque in Temecula a few weeks back. Oh, and his hair/facial gestures/cutesyness/opinions in some stories are awkward.

Mike Nolan is no longer doing traffic in the mornings on KOST, which is weird, as he has been on the station for nearly 20 years. He can still be found on KFI in the mornings. Rosie Redell is taking his place and doing the news on the station.

Karen Carson, who voicetracked (prerecorded her show for Los Angeles from New York) on KOST 103.5 is gone. Rumor is that KOST is looking for another Clear Channel DJ somewhere around the country to voicetrack their show on KOST.

Evelyn Erives from 991 KGGI is back on the radio days after having her baby, broadcasting live from her house. You can watch her on the baby cam.

And Jillian Barberie Reynolds is now a singer. My life is complete. Well, technically she did sing "Landslide" with Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks at Howard Stern's wedding.

The many hats of Leslie Miller

I like Leslie Miller- she's a solid reporter and anchor; she has quite the fashion sense; always has a new hair style; and she's stylish, yet professional.

And she looks great in the studio too.
