I just walked into my parent's bedroom to talk about what we're doing for my dad's birthday. She was sitting on the bed knitting and watching
Brokeback Mountain. I was a little surprised/shocked. I didn't say anything, just asked what we were going to do for my dad's birthday and left. But I thought that was interesting. Hmmm.... I am pretty sure my mom is watching it for the
straight love story and romance.

Hah. I don't know if I can picture my dad sitting for Brokeback, but my mom... I dunno. Maybe. Weird still.
But hey, as long as she wasn't throwing stuff at the screen and muttering something about "fags" then things are looking up!
Nothing Golden Stays
Brokeback was sad. I wish if they were going to make a movie about gay closet cases they'd of picked one with a happier ending. You know? Something to cheer a guy up.
I agree with anonymous that Brokeback was a tragic story, but it should be viewed as a reason to come out of the closet and live our lives to the fullest. As a closeted gay man until I was 34 years out, it reinforced to me just how much life I had missed out on living in that damn closet. Ennis could have had a great life with his soul mate had he just stepped out of that closet. Truly tragic!
