Bar hopping, coming out, and more

I was bored the Friday night and texted Darla to see if she wanted to hang out. She usually frequents Starbucks on Friday nights. She texted me back instantly that she was there studying, and could use a study break. I said I'd be there in 15. I was. I got a frappuccino and we sat chatting. We talked a lot about work. We talked about other random stuff I can't recall. Darla had said that our friend Amoona would also probably be joining us. I said that was fine and fun since D and Amoona usually hang out together. We are a trio- los 3 amigos. Amoona shows up and soon we're talking about common friends and stuff. Somehow the conversation of being an alcoholic comes up, which is kind of a running joke that Darla is the resident alcoholic. She says she knows where a bar is and asks if we want to go.

Amoona doesn't drink, but said yes. I, of course, couldn't turn it down, so I said let's go. We head over to the bar and order our drinks. Darla ordered a Cadillac margarita and I got the house margarita. We sit sipping and eating some nachos. We talk about work, friends, school, and then relationships. Darla tells about her older man- 6 years older and is a baby's daddy. Lots of drama there because of a shady guy. I joke that I have met my share of shady guys. I bring up Maxon. I am gender neutral when I tell it- I refer to Maxon as "they." Then finally Darla keeps pressuring me for their name. I say I don't remember. I say you don't know him because he is nearly 40 and lives a few cities away. Finally Amoona start giggling badly, laughing, and finally say Maxon. She said he sounded latino. I said he was. She then pressed me- "so you're gay?" You've been hiding this from me? Gosh, I thought we were good friends, you didn't have to hide this from me for so long. I'm kind of hurt." She asked again to confirm I was gay. By this time I was able to muster the words "I am gay." I said I was sorry for not telling her and just felt weird. She reassured me she was not homophobic. She told me we could have had some interesting conversations years ago had she known. I thought she did know- I remember I threw it out at Starbucks when we hung out a few years back. I don't do coming out well and saying it straight out easiliy.

Darla gets more buzzed and decides she wants to see Eddy. She texts him. He says he is busy with a girl and can't come. A few more texts, a few calls, and Eddy pops by. The bartender, an older Asian woman in her 50s knows Eddy when he walks in. He told the bartender the last time he was there he wanted to get smashed. I order another margarita, this time a Cadillac, and we all start talking. Eddy orders an Adios Mother Fucker and gets hammered. Darla is talking to the latino guy at the end of the bar, Eddy, Amoona, and myself are all talking. Eddy makes smalltalk with the bartender- she lets him flip the TV, she puts a little extra extra in his drink, he has her. haha Anyways, the Mexican restaurant closed at 10 and we hung around to 10:30, which was awkward, but the other bar patrons and a few diners did the same thing.

When we left we went back to Starbucks where Eddy flirted with the gal at the register and I ordered a green tea. Amoona talked about her parents and how they'd be upset she was out so late and she'd be in trouble, so she took off. Darla, Eddy, and I stayed around and swapped relationship stories and fun stuff like that. Eddy is a bad boy. He is funny. Finally it came to me and I just told him that "I met Greg..." and right of the bat was truthful. He asked "what?" He didn't seem to be able to grasp I was gay. After my story Darla took off. Eddy and I hung around a little while. We went to the bathrooms together in Starbucks, walked over to Carls so he could get food, then we went to my car and talked. He kept asking if I was really gay. I said yes. I told him him talking about girls does not turn me on. I told him to touch my crotch when he talked about girls and see that it was not hard. He did put his hand there. I was amused. He didn't grope- just laid it there. He kept asking still if I was gay. I told him "let's get naked, yes." He didn't take that offer, so I said, "let's go to a gay club." I was not going to go in with him to begin with- I was more curious to see his reaction. He was already a little too social and it might have been too much of a shock for a straight boy.

I start my car and we are off to the gay club I usually go to. In the car I am probed with the typical straight guy questions about being gay... are you sure that you are gay? Do you know my gay friend Chris? Did you choose to be gay? Have you fucked a girl? I drove toward the gay club, but WTF would it look like me showing up with a straight guy? How would this straight guy in shock react? We head up to the door and Eddy asks the bouncer if it is a gay bar and he said it was. Eddy said he didn't know if he was comfortable with that and I could have said he was obviously curious if he let me go this far, or just forced him in. I wasn't really serious about going with him, more for shock value to prove to him because he seemed hard headed, I said "you thought I wasn't serious that I am gay," and left it at that. We went over to the straight bar across the street. There Eddy was talking to everyone introducing me as his "gay friend Mike." Um. Thanks Eddy. These were people I went to high school with I didn't necessarily want or need to know that I am gay. All good, though. He didn't tell any of them, but there were people I went to HS with in the bar- at least 10. He talks to random people, talks to the wall, talked to everyone who came near us. After a while I insist we take off, and we do.

While in the straight bar I log onto Grindr and see The Guy is 880 feet or so from me. Then his gay trainer- not Josh- his new trainer- a gay guy- nothing going on with them- just good friends were both at the gay bar. I was like SHIT. WHEW. Good thing I didn't take Eddy there. I've never been with The Guy in a bar. Weird. Good thing I wasn't serious and was more about teasing Eddy. What a small world!

On the way back to Eddy's car he tells me that he is cool with however I am. I play straight very well. I don't drink like a gay guy. He loves everyone. He is a frat boy. I can hang with him, or any gay guy any day. I am approved in his book. I can bring a boy over to his place anytime and his casa is their casa. We hugged as he got out of my car and shook hands. Took off about 1:45a.m.

Straight boys... gotta tease them...

Practicing our Spanish

Pasé la noche con Eddy y todos mis amigos de trabajo. I just spent the night with Eddy and all of my coworkers. It was muy divertido. Llegué a las 9:30 con vodka y cookies. I arrived at 9:30 with vodka and cookies. Marci, Gonzo, y Eddy ya estaba. They were already there. So we played Malibu pong because we only had Malibu y sunny delight y no cerveza. It was quite fun. I sucked at Malibu pong. Never made the ball in pero had to drink a few glasses. It was fun. Marci and I seemed to get along- for some reason en las últimas veces we've hung out it hasn't seemed like we were on the same page, so this was cool. We played that until Marci y los otros, the others, were feeling a buzz. I wasn't. I was fine.

Viv y todos de sus primos showed up. All of her cousins. All of her male cousins. They are all such sweet guys, and Eddy invites them over because they can drink. It was sooooooo fun. Her cousins all hablan dos lenguas y unos no sabían, knew, that I could speak Spanish. I was cracking up on their jokes about mamando (sucking), and you can guess where that was leading. We drew pictures on a wall that Eddy had of penises and they drew cut and uncut penises, which I thought was an interesting thing. They think the veinier the penis, the longer and better. That wasn't all of the homoerotic stuff from the night. They were sharing shot glasses, beer cups, and sitting on the couch hugging and rubbing each others heads at several points. Near the end of the night on the balcony they were sharing cigarettes. They are cool guys, and I enjoy them. They're all such sweet latino guys, yet totally straight, yet do some things that are "gay," and yet don't know it.

So also during the night we were all into the Spanglish. Talking Spanglish como yo en este post, like me in this post. Fue interesante cuando yo empecé, it was funny when I started, and Viv's cousins weren't expecting. Nuestro amigo de trabajo, Hallie, es un nuevo coworker, and she was anxious to learn Spanish to flirt and get all over Viv's brother Gabe. OMG. He was fine. She was all over him. I was so jealous. All of us joked, kidded, and danced to the Spanish songs on Eddy's computadora. OMG. Eddy was all over the girls in the video, pero Gonzo, Viv, y yo were all over Enrique Iglesias. Can you say FINE?!?!?!?!

Eddy spent a lot of time in the closet drunk trying to sober and calling each of the girls at the party into the closet. I was a little fearful for the girls because Eddy was horny, so kept checking on everything. Todo was bueno, pero I would have felt really guilty if Eddy had seduced them or something against their will. I just kept a lookout. Found reasons to interrupt constantly, and Gonzo as well as Viv were glad I did.

So fun times... I had a really fun time speaking the Spanglish, and enjoying all of the homoerotic stuff. Viv told her cousins at one point I swung that way, and they were all cool, which was cool, and they were all cool.

Weekend post

Dodger game Friday night with coworkers, my dad and sister. There are 5-6 people at work that are Yankees fans and always get tickets when they are out here to go to the games. My dad, sister, and I usually fall into the mix and usually end up sitting somewhere around them. I sat in the same section as Jason and Michelle/her family from work- their seats were about 8 rows in front of me, we were over just off of the 3rd base line. Then my dad and sister got tickets away from me because there were no 3 packs of tickets being sold. They were over by first base on the 2nd level of the stadium. The Dodgers lost, which was unfortunate, but it was a really good game.

Some pics from the game courtesy of my new phone- the zoom isn't great, but it is nice. The photos are overall pretty good quality.

I zoomed in on Manny from my seat at a maximum zoom.

Saturday night was Gonzo's birthday at BJs and Eddy's. She invited like 12 people, but only 5 showed. It was Eddy, Darla, Darla and Gonzo's friend Linda, and myself at the dinner. Lots of fun conversation about anything and everything. We talked a lot about music, and I told Edwin how Tim McGraw does it for me. hahaha. We talked about Katy Perry's California Gurls and the whipped cream squirting boobs at the end of the song (starting about 3:25). Joe showed up later at Edwin's- he was just leaving the Angels game and couldn't make the dinner. When Gonzo and I got to Eddy's, he was sitting in his living room as we knocked, and told us to come in. He was watching some light porn on Cinemax or something. The guy and girl were going at it, girl's tits were showing. He was turned on and telling us. Gonzo blocked the TV. Then he put Entourage on, then back to porn. For a few minutes Gonzo, Eddy, and I sat watching that. Darla and Linda showed up and watched some too. Joe came and Joe sat on the floor looking at his phone like he was trying to not watch it... hahaha. Awkward. It was interesting. Lots of talking about guys Darla liked and we gave the yes/no approval. Lots of talking with Joe about the Angels. Fun time. Marci showed up shortly after. Eddy was insistent on making kamakazi shots again. Seriously, I'm so tired of those, it is just like lemon juice. I turned Eddy onto www.drinkmixer.com to give him some ideas for new drinks. We were about to do Cosmos, but he didn't like cranberry juice, though he had 2-3 bottles of it in the fridge. Nobody got really drunk and wild and crazy thankfully- just a few shots here and there. We all took off about 1- we were going to leave at 12, but we were busy watching California Gurls by Katy Perry on MTV, as well as Drake and talking about his abilities/or lack thereof depending on who you ask, debating the merits of rap/rock music. Rap and reggae is good for clubs, rock is good for everyday according to Eddy. Marci thinks that rock is all about depression and rap is about having a good time.

Tutor get together

My boss from the high school that I tutor at was throwing a party to thank all of us tutors for our hard work last night. Everyone, including the teachers we work with were invited. A lot of people were actually out of town, but the people I wanted to hang out with like Viv, Marci, Eddy, Gonzo, and Joe.

There was carne asada, barbecued chicken breasts, 7 layer bean dip, chips, arroz, y frijoles. The carne asada and chicken were soooooooooooo delicious. My boss was insistent on pouring and making drinks for us. We were doing some margarita sampling. She was telling why she is her own bartender when it comes to drinks. She likes them strong. She made us a basic margarita with Cuervo, and then one with Patron to see the difference. Then she made her margarita, which was STRONG. It was one you sip. It had a burn as it went down and minimal flavoring, which I like. Gonzo thought it was too strong, but I liked it, as did most everyone else. Mrs. C claims that is how they make the margaritas in México, y si es la verdad, if that is the case let's go!

So it was fun. We arrive, snack on the 7 layer bean dip and chips, and talk about little things like school. Gonzo graduated, so we congratulated her. Everyone talked about their finals and how the quarter went for them since everyone is on the quarter system. We sit down to eat and talk about a lot of different things. We talked about World Cup- and I threw out how boring it was. Everyone else is so into it. Lots of talk about hot soccer players and googling the players, and passing their photos around on our iPhones. Mrs. C is really into country as of recent, so she had the country station on Pandora playing. We were listening to Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, and Tim Mcgraw. I learned Viv is a country fan, and loves Tim Mcgraw. Of course I had to mention going to the Tim McGraw concert, and Viv and Mrs. C were jealous. We talked about going to concerts, and Mrs. C didn't realize how into concerts I am. We talked about other artists like Pit Bull, Maná, Aventura, Shakira, and our likes/dislikes. Apparently Shakira's song Loba/She Wolf is bad. I like it even if they don't. We talked about favorite books, and Mrs. C is of Mexican descent, but doesn't really speak Spanish. She has read a lot of Spanish authors, as I have also, and Viv and her cousin, so we were able to talk a lot about Cisneros, García Marques, y Sor Juana, which was interesting. I enjoyed the convo. We talked about clubbing and stuff like that- Mrs. C is pretty hip and in when it comes to stuff like that- she's not out doing it, but she had her young wild days. She knows I'm a big Brandin' Iron fan for the country music. We also talked about our favorite restaurants and fine dining restaurants. Mrs. C and I may do the OC Register food truck get together on the 30th of this month- I facebooked her the information.

Mrs. C made sure we were all supplied as far as drinks went. I only had 2 margaritas and that was perfect- I never overdo it when drinking, and I certainly wouldn't around coworkers/a boss. Now Eddy was a different story. He had been drinking before he came- no surprise- we seriously are thinking he has a drinking problem. And you can tell he has been drinking. He did Patrón shots with Mrs. C's husband, was telling everyone including Mrs. C how horny he was, and was talking to the wall outside of the bathroom at point. Mrs. C knows Eddy is like this, and didn't think anything of it. She was telling him to crash on the couch, she would drive him home, whatever. Gonzo was hit on by Eddy. Eddy kept telling everyone he had to go because he had booty calls waiting. Joe drove Eddy home in his truck and I followed Joe, then drove him back to pick up his truck. Joe was so hilarious during the night teaching us his "moves" for awkward situations. It was random hand gestures like the awkward turtle, which was appropriate when Eddy was around and talking about being horny.

Joe called this the sexual tension jellyfish

Overall it was an awesome time just kicking back, eating, talking, and we talked for a good 5 hours or so.

Doing better

I had a difficult day yesterday.

The Guy is of course in love with his new boy and had no time to talk. I really just needed someone to talk to, and I want to say thank you Bruce for chatting with me.

My mom was really distant yesterday, and again telling me how she can't deal with me, can't handle this, how it is so wrong. She was in a mood already after dealing with my aunt in Nor Cal, so she wasn't too pleasant when she got home. We had the news on, and they were doing the Ricky Martin story. Her response to the whole Ricky Martin coming out thing was "another one," and how he has kids, so that is so much more wrong and so much worse.

I came into contact with several who were talking about my coming out that were briefly mentioned in this post. I am so thankful that the people did call me back who were genuinely concerned about me. I did hear some people talking and saying things about my sexuality- not directly to my face, though. I just smiled and said hello when I saw them, nothing out of the ordinary.

Today things are more or less back to normal it seems with several of the people mentioned in the above paragraph. The people who were eyeing me yesterday and talking didn't for the mostpart. I did hear my sexuality come up once today, and I just replied "it effects you because?" A bit bold for me normally, but whatever.

Update: Coworkers Viv, Eddy, and Marci were hanging out this afternoon and invited me over. We got buzzed among other things, and had a fun time watching couples retreat. Eddy and I swapped stories. I told the group about the 55 year old the other night, and Eddy was busy lookimg at porn on the computer. They just laughed about the 55yo. Marci mentioned a couple of times that Eddy probably had a computer full of porn. So funny. Marci wanted to watch some of the porn, so I watched porn with Eddy and Marci. Crazy stuff. I was wondering if I was going to have a 4some with my coworkers- I would have drew the lines there- that would have been a big no-no in my book. Plus I would have had a hard time staying hard with 2 girls involved. Also looked for porn on the internet. We were looking for crazy search term stuff on some site Eddy knows for straight porn and we ended up watching a couple videos in his room together where 2 midgets were in a 3some.

Viv did show us some random youtube videos including these, which are great when you're buzzed:

Beer pong

Eddy texted me at about 3p.m. telling me his house was open or something to that effect, and I knew what it meant. I texted back asking if it was another wild sex party. He said just drinking with the coworkers. I was down. We all met about 9:30. Different group than usual, plus some usual suspects like Viv (I hadn't seen her since my birthday maybe), Marci, and Gonzo. Hannah joined us (new coworker) and 2 of her friends.

They were all setting up for beer pong when I arrived. Gonzo had never played beer pong, and was anxious to learn. She had it down within the first few shots, she also refused to drink beer, and would only do kamikaze shots since they don't taste alcoholic. She was in every round, and did a total of 6 shots. She was a pro and kept making it in the other team's cups. Viv came later, and Viv was pretty good too. She came with her cousin Benji, who has become a good friend of Eddy's.

So lots of playing Rockband, beer pong, random side convos going on. Viv, Gonzo, and I made our way to the bedroom- not for anything sexual, but to watch youtube videos and dance to them. I am embarrassed/impressed to say I had several of the songs on my iPod. Yeah, I could pass for being Mexican. My days of listening to Latino 963 paid off.

I like this song...

This song is ridiculous when you find out/if you know what Mayonesa translates to in English. I learned to use my hips and chest in this. Notice the Beyonce parody in this video.

Bonus points if anyone knows what "dougie" refers to. Nasty meaning. We weren't a fan of this song.

Viv had to leave about 12:30, Mari at 12. Viv is going to TJ tomorrow and has to get up at 6. After Mari left Viv, Gonzo and I danced, and I was praised for dancing to anything. Random people flowed through on their way to the bathroom and stopped to look. We talked about how sexy some of the guys were in the videos and how to dance to the songs... haha.

After Viv left Gonzo played some Rockband with Eddy. Lots of random talk about random stuff. Gonzo kept saying how she isn't like this, how "we are good people," and how no one will find out about her.

It wasn't my idea to get really crazy drunk like Eddy had planned for people like Gonzo. I drove Gonzo home in her car, and Eddy followed. I didn't like doing that, but we were insistent she wasn't going to drive, and well, I'd feel bad if she didn't get home safely.

A most excellent birthday

Mike and I hung out yesterday since I didn't have to work. I texted him about 10:30 after I ran errands. I washed my car, detailed it, then went to the grocery store for a few birthday cards, and then home to write them. We were texting each other back and forth. He wanted to know when my birthday dinner with friends was, and I told him. It was at 6:30, so because of traffic I needed to leave at 5:30. I said I didn't mind driving over to hang out. He had someone coming to give an estimate on what it would cost to design and landscape his backyard.

I get over to his place at 12 and the landscape designer is late. We sit and watch that addiction show on TLC. That was pretty crazy- one gal was addicted to tanning and the other was addicted to Comet, the household cleaner. Both were pretty... Um... Interesting. I sat on the couch watching that while the designer, a cookey old guy, talked to himself in the backyard and the 2 of us just laughed. The guy was really amusing. He brought up some of Mike's plants in his yard and grass to show what he did wrong. Mike isn't using a sharp enough blade to cut his grass making it look dead.

After this guy left about 1:30 we head over to Victoria Gardens for lunch. We go to the Italian place next to the movie theater. I think it is called Paisano. We have a vegetarian calzone. It really lacked flavor, which was disappointing. The vegetables had the potential to be flavorful. Mike insisted on paying since it is my birthday. It wasn't, but he insisted. We talk about lots- gay cruises, his vegetarian eating, favorite and fine restaurants, vacations and family vacations, and our best friends. His best friend is coming out at the end of the month and he wants me to be sure to meet her.

We stopped at Fresh and Easy, and drove by a place called Corkys that boasted being open 24 hours and having great breakfasts. I checked it out on Yelp, and the reviews were either very high, or very low. We talked a little about breakfast food places. As we drove back in the car he kept poking me and making me giggle as he tickled me. He's cute.

We get back to his place and hang around for a few minutes before I take off to my birthday with friends. I'd invited him along, but he wasn't comfortable with a crowd of people. He's very much introverted and shy. I am, but in a group of people I know I am fine. We watch an episode of Oprah's 25 and finish up The Talk from that day on CBS. I had never seen either. He is all over daytime TV since he is at home able to watch all of it all day.

I decided on Olive Garden with friends. Gonzo, Eddy, Marci, her boyfriend, Darla, and her cousin all showed up. It was fun. A lot of talk about Gonzo's upcoming wedding- Marci is planning her bachelorette party. Edwin wants to go, and as a gay guy, I can get by going according to Gonzo. LOL. So yeah. We also caught up in each other's lives. This is the first time we've really been split up. We all went to the same college for undergrad together. We went to high school together for the mostpart. We are now at 5 different colleges.

After, we head to Eddy's apartment about 9. I had every plan to not stay long because Mike invited me back over. I was also not in the mood for Eddy's drunkenness. He did 8 shots in the course of about 2 minutes just to prove himself- as if we haven't seen this 100 times already. Anyways, we hung out watching the video "Like a G6" and Enrique Iglesias videos like "I Like It" and "I Want to Fuck You Tonight" song. I texted Mike around 10 as it went downhill. Eddy was drunk, horny, and about to go out on the roof or something crazy. I made the excuse that I was tired to leave.

I get back to Mike's about 11 and he is watching "Reba" on TV. We watch an episode of that, then "How I Met Your Mother." After, we head to bed. It is about 12:30. He wants to suck me off and does, which was hot. I get him off too. All during this I'm thinking about how hot it was, especially because we were both hibernating under the covers because he keeps his house so cold. The song "Birthday Sex" is playing in my head... lol. We then fall asleep in each others arms. We woke up about 9 to the cat who was kneading, which is something I'd never heard of. He was purring and alternating between front legs. He was getting very loud. He was looking for attention, so I gave him some.

We took turns showering, then went to breakfast at that Corky's place. It was on the expensive side. The omelets were alright according to Mike. My French toast was pretty good. We just thought it was overpriced and for a few dollars at home we could make better.

We stop at Wal-Mart for cat litter and pick up Scrabble while we are at it. We talk about random stuff like cars, my family who lives right by him (all of my aunts and cousins). He talks about how great his life is that he can work 25 hours a week... I'm jealous.

It is nearly 11:30 by the time we are back and my aunt and uncle were over in the area today, so we met up with them. We all went to dinner at the restaurant of my choice. I was thinking a churrascaría, but the closest was in Irvine. I was thinking the Spanish restaurant, but since Mike took me the other night I was wanting something different. I knew my aunt and uncle had mentioned wanting to try a certain restaurant before, and I had too, as Mike had mentioned it, and several other friends like Mrs. C, and Keith. It is an upscale northern Italian restaurant. Everything on the menu ranged between $18 and $37. I had a delicious ox tail pasta with huge shreds of parmesan cheese on top. YUM. Before we went, though, my parents were curious how much it cost since I do tend to have elaborate tastes that come at high prices. They didn't find an issue with that since it is just a little bit more than we'd typically spend elsewhere, and that it was a special occasion.

My sister, of course, was talking about how guilty I should feel. Her birthday was $10 a person because she saved the family money by going to TGI Fridays and they had a special of 2 entrees, appetizers, and a dessert for $20. I reminded her you have to factor in a drink for that as well as tip making it close to $16-17 (of course I know tax and tip weren't taken into account in my argument, but my sister didn't think of that). That quieted her down for a moment. Then she was talking about how ridiculously expensive $30 was for pasta. I informed her most of the pasta dishes were about $20. She told me how that's so expensive and we can't afford that. She told me that she could make pasta for $0.50. She said she would be thankful for just Spaghetti-o's from a can... um... sure she would... she likes those, but on her birthday she'd throw a fit. She told me under her breath how "that's f-in ridiculous." I informed her she may go to "h-e double hockey sticks l" for saying that, especially being the good Christian she is. She told me how she would never bankrupt my parents like that and how Cocos is more up her alley. I told her I understood completely- she plays the old woman part well- she has completely let herself go. She didn't have a comeback for that other than to say she is not old and that I was so insulting.

In the restaurant my sister was making faces at me to express her displeasure. There was nothing she would eat since they didn't have regular spaghetti. Ox tail is nasty she said. She didn't want goat cheese because it wasn't Velveeta and pasta with cheese is icky. My aunt and uncle basically told her she should order a pizza if she was having an issue. She did. She didn't like it. She also pulled out her cell phone and started texting. My uncle informed her that this was probably not the restaurant to be doing that in. She said that she could because she had an important text about work. My mom said it could wait- she needs to spend time with the family once in a while. My mom remarked that she doesn't allow her to text in the first place in restaurants and was apaulled that she pulled it out in such a nice restaurant.

My sister may sound like she was the complete topic of our conversation, but really, she was minor. It was truly my night- not my sister's. I had a great time. We talked with my aunt and uncle about school, the weather, work, and going somewhere together soon like Disneyland or Knotts.

We walk around downtown before coming back to my house for my white cake with pineapple filling and cream cheese that my mom made. It was sooooooooooooo good!!!

All of the gifts from friends, texts, calls, and facebook messages have also helped make this special.

My fan club

I was at the mall tonight because I was supposed to see a movie with Mal. We were going to go see The Killers. I was on the phone with her, and we were planning on seeing the 9:45 showing until her son fell asleep.

I was at the theater walking down the steps when I swore I saw Darla and Eddy at Elephant Bar. I walk down to take a look and walk over to them on the patio. It was them. I say hi, then say I'll come in and see everyone. I was hoping as I walked in I wouldn't see any one from my high school. The reason was there was an informal get together that had been advertised on facebook by The Mike's and their good friend Randall.I walked in as quietly as possible to not draw attention. 87 people said they would attend- I was hoping I wouldn't run into the majority of those as they were friends of The Mike's. I didn't see anyone. I walked out to the tables where my friends were. They had just arrived, and we ordered drinks. I ordered 1 mojito, and that was enough. I was so buzzed so quickly. I was having a great time chatting with Eddy, Darla, and the group, when suddenly I see one of The Mike's. I play it cool- say I was just there happening to have dinner with my friends. He thought I was there for the reunion. I got rid of him with relative ease. A few minutes later he comes over with his whole crew- the other Mike, Steve, Carl, and a few others. I had just been coming back from the restroom and was walking out to the patio. I shook the Mike's hand, the crueler of the 2, and he told me how even though he was drunk, he'd like to see me over hanging out with him. I said I would, and he wanted to make sure it wasn't just me saying that, and I said no. After some pushing and shoving he was ready to take off. The group followed him off. Yay. Oh, and Mike was still really big like the last time I saw him at the gym.

Back to whatever my group was talking about- I think maybe how much Darla drank, how she was on her 5th or 6th drink of the night because she had been drinking prior to Elephant Bar. Darla was sweet talking the bartender trying to get him to pour to no avail. A few minutes later The Mike's 5-6 good friends come out of the bar next door and start heading toward Yardhouse. Of course on their way they have to stop at yell my name. I wave and acknowledge them. The waving was enough, and they continue, so I shout "Mike, Mike, Randall, etc. etc. etc." to acknowledge them and they continue calling my name. My friends are annoyed. Darla yells "you're dumbasses," they can't hear her, and she yells louder. I love her. Hahaha.

So lots of more talking. Darla wants to know everyone waiting on us by name, Eddy wants to know who these idiots are, random stuff. Eddy was amsued. Good stuff.

I do know only about 10 people showed up for this, and it was mainly friends of The Mike's with the exception of a girl that I've known since kindergarten named Tina and her husband.

So basically we end up paying for everything and heading out about 11:20. I get home at 11:40ish.

Excited for this weekend.................. yay!

Younger date

He was a hottie!!! Throughout the date he reminded me of Spinner from Degrassi as far as body frame and looks. Date had darker hair, though, and a faux-hawk, and his right ear pierced. He sort of has that want to be bad boy look going on.
(Spinner is the blond guy in the video below)

We met at TGI Fridays where we spent a great deal of time talking about work and special ed. He talked about how people often say how gross it is he works with those kids, or how they don't understand. He did the majority of the talking and I could hardly get a word in- a change from when we'd chatted on the phone or internet. We talk about him living in Oklahoma, how he wound up out here. We talked about his family and mine, and outness. A couple times he said he felt really awkward, but I don't know if that was just nervousness or not.

The service was awful at Fridays. 3 waiters said they'd take care of us, and only 1 did. The 1 who did take care of us only got us drinks and brought the check. Oh, and when he brought the check he asked 3-4 times who had the sizzling chicken and who had the steak, and he gave us the wrong checks. We traded, then he mixed the cards up, so even though we straightened it out, I was charged for what I didn't order. Oh well.

After we eat we run outside into the rain and debate what to do. I said movies, but there was nothing I really wanted to see, and he agreed he doesn't like movie dates. I told him the rain sort of took away from things we could do. I was thinking mini golf at the local amusement park that was just down the street. He said we could go back to his place and watch a movie. I follow him back to his place. We watch "Zoolander" and since the heat hasn't kicked on in the house we both lay under our own blankets. Suddenly we are cuddled up next to each other, holding hands, rubbing each others arms, and talking about little stuff like music, how he felt awkward earlier, how we were both so cold, how we were both having a great time, and things like that. As "Zoolander" came to an end he was getting very tired and could hardly stay awake. We called it a night. We hugged and I took off.

Hopefullly there is a 2nd date...
-------------------------------------------------------------------
After the date I went to the big teen hangout and ran into a bunch of people I really didn't care to see. I was there to find 8 books for an annotated bibliography for schooll. I ran into Max's cute friend Jesse, one of The Mike's friends Randall and his girlfriend, a few other guys I've seen at the local gay club. Jesse was checking me out and following me around in the store somewhat. I got everything done and left as quickly as I could.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I get to the car and get a call from a half drunk Darla asking me where I was and that she and Eddy had been drinking for hours already. I told them I was on my way, despite being very tired at this point. Oh well, it was only 8p.m. I am at the Mexican food place within 10 minutes, ordering a house margarita, which was pretty darn good. Lots of good stories. Told all of them including Eddy about my date, but he still seemed in shock and kept referring to my date as "she." Starbucks afterward where they were all pretty much tired. Then to Eddy's to watch an episode of Law and Order. All of this before midnight.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday Update: Date just wants to be friends, but that's ok.

Harassed him enough

I have spent the past couple weeks harassing The Guy. I mean that in the nicest way. A text- "what's up," "where are you?" "can you help me by letting me use your video camera?" After the texts and 20 calls he had no choice but to message me back. He has replied lately, so gotta give him credit. We did agree to hang out some day this week last Friday. He texted me at 9:54 this morning, and I immediately cleared my schedule to do so. I didn't have anything important really, only allergy shots. I told The Guy 2:30. And the harassing was alright because I know, and he knows how he has to be pushed and "reminded" a lot, but is glad in the end. LOL

I got out of work early. Linda and I are ahead on planning, and we even got all of our grading done. We just have to input the scores tomorrow. She let me leave an hour early. I was ecstatic. I left at 2:10.

I get to his place and he was taking a nap. He immediately got up, we hugged, and he brought out the food. He got sushi for us. He got the healthy sushi at the place up in his town. We had spicy salmon with cucumber and cream cheese, and spicy salmon/tuna. The salmon/tuna was best. I don't get cream cheese in sushi. We sit and talk about me being placed with Linda for student teaching. He got the biggest kick out of it. He told me about talking to his trainer friends, and how Robert came up with an idea for an iPhone app. He really did find a niche, and The Guy ordered books, explained his idea, and the steps he's taken to start writing an iPhone app. I'm so envious that he is able to program- I really want to see what happens as it takes shape. That just sounds sooo cool.

We go out to the jacuzzi and he tells me more about his iPhone app, how Robert is starting his first day in nursing school, and how he is so self motivated. The Guy tells me Josh replied to his texts this past weekend, so he thinks Josh was dumped or something.

Once The Guy goes for a dip because he smelled nasty he claimed, he got the video camera out for me. As a part of the documentation for the state I have to videotape a lesson, write up everything that happens in the video, how I differentiate instruction for 2 focus students, etc. I have a video camera here at home that is VERY old and would not work because I have to upload it to the internet, and don't have the abilities with the old camera I have. His camera is the size of a regular camera. I told him, and will treat him to lunch when I return it. I am so thankful for this because he is saving me tons of work.

The Guy shows me his thoughts for his iPhone app, then we go get the dogs. On the way to get the dogs we stop at the car wash so The Guy can get his car done. We talk while there. I tell him about Eddy, Keith, and Jack off Buddy/his boyfriend. He was glad to see that I'm getting out and meeting people. He told me how to lure Eddy into bed. He told me to give him a kiss next time we meet. The Guy told me how to give the perfect kiss. You need soft lips and relaxed lips. He had me touch his lips with my finger to get the idea. LOL. Then we talk about how to flirt using body contact because Eddy is not a very contact type guy. LOL. So now I have homework.

We get the dogs and head back home. He asks if I want dinner, and he gets some turkey sausage out, cuts it up, cooks it. Then he adds marinara sauce and a goat yogurt instead of sour cream, some elbow macaroni. It was sooooooooo tasty. And some fresh parmesan cheese on top. Yum! We ate and I told him more Linda stories, we talked about how naive she is, how crazy she is, and her OCD. We talked about my observations and how they've gone really well so far- I had the principal come in the other day and my advisor before that.

After dinner I help him tidy up the kitchen area and do a trash run. I help him install his really high tech door locks that are computer controlled. He also set his thermostat because that same program controls that. He has a smart house. We talked about more random things, and I thanked him for the camera. I got home about 9.

Weekly update... because I do a lot during the week

I have had another busy week where I was out almost every night reeking havoc somewhere... so here's a look at this week...

Monday: Stayed home- my dad got home late since he was buying stuff for my sister's birthday

Tuesday: Went out to dinner for my sister's birthday.

Wednesday: Had a meeting at school from 3-5, which left me exhausted afterward. The meeting went well and I'm ready to resubmit my documentation to the state for my credential. I'm 2/4, or halfway done.

Thursday: Dinner with my mom, Linda, and Mel. Lots of fun stories actually. I didn't get in too much trouble in class this week. I participated. I didn't whine when we discussed personal problems. Really, do we need to spend 15 or 45 minutes discussing Lisa's personal problems about custody of her children? No. I think not.

Friday: Ry texted me about 6:45p.m. I was supposed to go to a concert at my alma mater, but I didn't have a valid student ID. I said if he was down we would hang out. I told him it went through my mind about going to the mall. He said we would. I drove down to Anaheim to meet him. He was doing chores at his house. We talked about how he hadn't done laundry and dishes in weeks because he was waiting for his mom. It was almost a joke, and he was taking after his cat lapping cereal and milk from a bowl rather than a cup. We talk about each other's day, and then head off to the Block at Orange. We went to H&M where we both bought blue corduroy pants, balked they didn't have an Express, and grabbed a snack at Subway. We went back to his place and laid on the bed where we watched Food Network and discussed our favorite topics- Rachael Ray, Paula Deen, Guy Fieri, and Ina Garten. He acted as if he fell asleep, but he hadn't. He gives me some macadamia nut cookies he had, and I leave about 11:00p.m.

Saturday: I go with my parents to Sears to get a new washer. We didn't get a cool front loading one, but this one still has lots of bells and whistles. It arrived today, and it washes well according to my dad.

I met up with a friend in San Diego for what I thought would be lunch, but wasn't. I met up with my friend Peter at Dick's Last Resort down in the Gaslamp District, a restaurant where they harass and argue with you as you eat. The waiter called me an American Idol for wearing my sunglasses outside, then when we were giving our ATM to pay yelled out my name to check I was still there. Fun times. It isn't a place I'd normally go. My friend Peter is one of those who we've tracked down each other on facebook, and wanted to hang out just for the heck of it. We did. He was over in Iraq and Afghanistan. I've only hung out with him once or twice since second grade when he moved, but we wrote letters to each other, etc. He was doing well. He is stationed at Camp Pendleton and loves ARMY life. We chatted about everything- friends, family, work, school, as we drank our Miller Lights and he smoked cigarette after cigarette. They were filming Glutton For Punishment on the Food Network while we were there, and we were in many takes we think. See host Bob Blumer in the pic below.

After hanging out with Peter I got a special treat. I got to meet a fellow blogger, Aek. I honestly didn't know if I'd ever meet him in person mainly because he lives in a northern state I don't know why I'd go to. Not that I didn't want to meet him because I have wanted to since we first started chatting. He seemed very humble and caring, and meeting him in person confirmed that. He was fun. We know a lot about each other, and just started talking about each other's days, Linda, work, school, and stuff like that. We went to a Thai restaurant named Bai Yook in Hillcrest, the gay neighborhood in San Diego. On our walk there we saw lots of "interesting" people and sushi. We talked about things in Cali and stuff like that. I really enjoyed meeting him. He was exactly as I pictured minus the voice. Do you ever have those preconceived thoughts about a person? Well, I had some about him just as I pictured after getting a picture of talking to him the last 2-3 years, and the only thing that was really different was his voice, which sounded really masculine, which is a good thing. I wish we had more time, but he had to get back to his conference that he was out here for. We tried and failed at taking pics together in the car to verify that we did indeed meet and do exist.

After I went to Westfield at Mission Valley and ran to the Express there where I found their bright colored 1MX shirts for $19 and $29, a $20-30 savings. I got a forest green and a bubblegum blue.

I got a call from Ry about 10:30. He was picking up a new sofa in LA and we chatted about random anything and everything.

Sunday:
Grocery shopping, usual Sunday stuff.

Keith messaged me about 9a.m. on facebook wanting to meet up at 1 and have me go with him to a play, "An Then There Were None," the Agatha Christie play. I did not think the play was that convincing, and knew there was going to be some sort of twist, but did not figure it out.

After we went bar hopping in downtown. We started off at the cigar bar, then off to the bar next to the gay bar, and then the gay bar. We had a beer in each. The bar next to the gay bar had the best price. Lots of variety. I started off with Coors for $3.50 at the cigar bar, a big gulp glass at the bar next to the gay bar for $6.50, then drinks on the house at the other bar. We talked about a lot. Eddy and Keith went to Vegas, and Eddy asked after the trip why I wasn't invited. Eddy has been texting me all week wanting to hang out. We'll try to get together this week...

Hanging out lately

It seems when I'm not at work or school I'm hanging out. I can't complain. I'm enjoying the getting out, meeting new people, and things like that.

- Went to dinner this past week with Eddy (not coworker Eddy), a friend of Jack off Buddy's boyfriend. We met at a birthday dinner for Jack off Buddy's boyfriend a few weeks back. He's a year or two older than me, and we went to the same college. It was cool hanging out, and I am sure we'll hang out again.
- Jack off Buddy, his boyfriend, possibly a few other guys, and myself are going to Disneyland tomorrow. Should be fun!
- I am going to a wine bar for dinner one night this week or next with another guy I met at that party named Keith. He's 38. We have both talk and agree just friends. We're mainly going because we have so many common friends- all gay guys- and we've recently met, but want to get to know each other better.
- I'm going to another party Teacher Friend is throwing on Friday night. So far Rick hasn't RSVP'd according to facebook.
- Hoping to hang out with Darla, Gonzo, The Guy, and more soon...

No coming out news... but...

Still busy, busy.

Today: - Ran errands all morning, met Gonzo, Viv, Eddy, Mari and everyone for a quick lunch.
- Allergy shots this afternoon, which took a ridiculous 45 minutes, so Mike will be calling Kaiser to complain.
- Found black curtains I liked for my room at Bed Bath and Beyond for $19.00 a panel. I need to buy new curtain rods right now. New weekend project is to put the curtains up. That'll be a process. Lots of pushing and arguing with my dad to get them up.

And here's the song I've had stuck in my head all day
Never Going Back Again- Fleetwood Mac

Wednesday: - Haircut (it's been 8 weeks!)- we'll see about a new style
- Hopefully I'll get a sub call
- School from 5-9, and an hour talking to my friends in the parking lot after

Thursday: Meeting Viv and her lesbian cousins to go to male and female strippers night at the local gay club

Friday: Nothing yet- hang out with The Guy? Hopefully

Saturday: "Punch and cookie movie night" at Eddy's... it is in quotes because I don't think it'll be that innocent.

Sunday: I was invited this past weekend to go with the hairstylist and his husband to the same gay club I'm going to Thursday night to hang out. We ran into each other this past week and I turned down their invitation to go out this past Sunday, so I promised to not flake this Sunday.

Fun times into next week also...

Monday night: - Last night of my Content Literacy class- loved the class (I've gotten the most out of this class in my credential program, and the teacher was just like a mother). One girl is bringing cupcakes, so I'm going to cook some dessert up since there are only 6 of us in the class. I'll miss this class.

Wednesday night: - Last night of my Teaching class and my partner is inviting all of the guys and a few of the girls in the class to go to Benihana for sushi afterward.

Max-imum drama

I called The Guy the other day after all of the stuff with Max to find out about what went on and tell him how awkward the whole thing with Max the night before was. He never called back. I had him on the phone today after he canceled on lunch with me. He wanted to take Josh to lunch for his birthday over me. Dang. I was really kind of bothered. Oh well.

I wanted to ask because as I was getting out of the shower to go hang out with my coworkers he instant messaged me. He was wanting to know why I hadn't messaged him all week, how me not messaging him was a sign I wasn't wanting to be in a relationship, and how he was so offended by me hanging out with his friends the other night. Um. Sorry? This led to a comparison between The Guy and I because we both ditched him. Again, I'm sorry, I was busy this week. The conversation continued and he brought up me making out with one of his friends at the bar. I confessed and took responsibility for saying that it was awkward with making out with one of his friends. It was inappropriate. I was being pressured, but it was not me making the move, but I did it. Oh well. I'm a big boy and can handle that I made a mistake. But then he goes on to accuse me of making him feel so left out, just like The Guy. I told him his ground rules were awkward where he said,
We talked in the club how there would be no jealousy/we would be comfortable socializing, meeting people, making out, whatever happens, and that we will still be friends. A little disclaimer for a wild night.

So now he's hurt when he said making out with other people when he was insistent that making out with other people would not be awkward? I told him that it was awkward if this was a DATE to set those kind of ground rules. A bar was probably not a good place for a DATE. He said we can hang out in the future AS FRIENDS. I said fine and apologized. I had to leave shortly after this little dramatic episode because I was meeting my coworkers. He accused me of ditching him again like The Guy, but also because I was snapping as I was being targeted and vulnerable. I told him no, I was meeting my coworkers at 9 and it was 8:43.

I told THe Guy about all the details, how he was suddenly coming up in the conversation, we were being compared to each other, and how I wasn't bothered, but confused. I did want to ask him about the whole Max thing. He told me they met up, did dinner, fucked each other, then saw each other at the bar that we were at last Saturday. He said he thinks he is acting out because he just lost so much weight and was always ignored, but now was getting looks, and the attention has went to his head, and he can do what he wants he thinks. He advised me to stay away. I plan to. He felt bad for me having to go through this and I told him it was ok. It was. I survived. I abided by the ground rules. I don't think I did too much wrong. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. Anyways, as The Guy pointed out he didn't mean to hurt me, it was just that he thought we were 2 young guys who would hit it off well together.

Edit: After talking with The Guy I'm in a mood this afternoon. I feel really bad. I attract such awful guys. Like borg_queen says, Carl (although not a date- a guy from school), Greg, stalker whom I have not heard from in MONTHS, thank god!, Maxon, and Chris. AY!!!! I'm exhausted with that list. What am I doing wrong? It is so discouraging at times. Why can't I meet a quality guy, one? I guess that's why I value and am thankful to have so many great close friends.

And last night with my coworkers was awesome. We went to a relatively new coworkers house to hang out. His name is Eddy and he is a frat boy. There was drinking. I stopped and bought some Malibu, which turned out being a hit. I just did 1 shot of Southern Comfort and a Dixie cup of vodka and orange juice. Joe was there, he reminded me so much of myself again, and he was drinking, which surprised everyone. Interesting stuff. Eddy exemplifies all those stories you hear about frat boys and I totally understand. He did 12 shots in under 10 minutes. He was all over Joe and I and hugging us, talking about giving real hugs, how Joe seemed uncomfortable with him sitting on his lap, so not comfortable with his sexuality, but I was. Hot tub. Balcony. Pissing off the balcony. Humping on the balcony. Rockband. Guitar. Humping the TV. That was my night. I am still trying to process it. I wasn't the one getting wild and crazy, but it was just bizarre.

So basically The Guy and I will do breakfast tomorrow morning. Breakfast is my least favorite meal of the day, but there's a really yummy place by his house. HOpefully I'm hungry.

Ringing in the New Year - NYC for NYE

Christmas was pretty good - Christmas Eve I ran errands, cleaned up around the place, then headed to my parents. We had steak and opened gifts. It was tasty. Got most everything I asked for from my parents like slippers and a few pairs of shoes. There were a few weird gifts like my mom always buys, and it is like why? I got a car blanket for my trunk, a horrid looking pocket watch with some hunting scene on it... wtf am I 70? Who uses pocket watches? Socks that don't fit.

Christmas Day was spent making some spinach dip, then going to my aunt's house. Great fun hanging with the family. I wanted one of those little flying helicopters like they have in the malls etc. that you can buy, and had my hands on that during the gift exchange/stealing game thing, and it was stolen by my aunt. I had my hands on an Atari game set, which was also stolen, then ended up with a color changing shower head that apparently won't fit any of my shower heads.

Day after I jetted off in first class to NYC. Matt Damon was on my flight with his familia. He is HAWT.

Spent the next day with Mike's family. We went out shopping with his mom. The following day was pretty much like that, we also met his cousin who lived in the area devastated by Sandy.

Made our way to the city the following day to hang with his friend K, O and P. We went to dinner at several small plate places in the west village. Browsed real estate too in the area. Found a place for $299 that was probably really scary, or had some insane HOA. Found a cute $459k place on 25th that was also vetoed. Enjoyed our Times Square hotel btw.

Went to the transit museum, and shopped our favorite NYC stores. Best store ever is Lord & Taylor. LOVE THAT STORE. Great shoes, clothes, etc. Uniqlo was insane. Too crowded to buy anything.

Met up with my friend D who just got back from Albania and is teaching in the Bronx. Mike didn't really like him. hahaha. He was a bit obnoxious he thought. That's his personality. Haha.

NYE was spent shopping at the stores mentioned above, then we had our own party up in our hotel looking down onto the stage. Melissa Ethridge took the stage about 6, then there were a few performances every now and then. I thought the entertainment would be constant. Could not fathom standing on the street for hours and not being entertained continuously. We watched simultaneously down below, could open our window and hear it, then watched on TV. Went down to dinner about 10:30 at a Thai restaurant, were back up in our room to see the ball drop and make out session, before heading down on the street to see the aftermath. It clears out fast. The amount of trash and pizza boxes and confetti is amazing.

Up at 8 the next morning for brunch with K, O, and P. Mike made eggs, potatoes, and a few other goodies. Lots of champagne too. We left K to nap while we made our way to Union Square for Nordstrom Rack. Found nothing. Headed up 5th Avenue to the flatiron district for our favorite stores. Met K a few hours later for a shopping adventure. Thought about DaninOKC as we found some really cool stores. Our favorite we had been to before was Fishs Eddy, found some awesome plates and gifts. Then we found a few new stores that are new favorites - ABC Home. Dan, that's a store I think you would really enjoy that is a mix of furniture, design, and more. Walked all over town up to nearly 23rd and then down to West Village again where we found cute places for dinner. Went into the hidden Speakeasy Employees Only. AMAZING MANHATTAN. Love me my Manhattan. Said goodbye later to K, which was sad.

The next day was spent traveling home - made it out before the blizzard. It was a feel like 12 degrees, but really 22 when we left. I loved the cold weather. I loved the calm. I loved being all bundled up. Rode home in first class. Only way to go.

Yesterday was my cousin's wedding, and it was so amazing. I nearly lost it. She was so beautiful. Had an awesome Oscar De La Renta dress. Had such a fun time with family too.

Craziest story. I kept seeing a girl at the wedding and kept turning around to look at her. Stalkerish, well, I knew her. I kept trying after the wedding to talk to her, but she disappeared. I finally asked my cousin's now husband if the girl was, and the name of my student. He said he had no idea. I finally saw her again, and approached her, and found out there's a weird family relation - very distant. My cousin's now husband's sister's husband's sister is my student. What would that make her? LOL. I think she was as surprised as I was. She's a good girl. She's got like a 98% in my class. Always challenges everything that I say in a good way - a discussion type of way - she's very vocal. What are the chances of this meeting? So weird. My cousin married into this Mexican family, and my school is in an all Mexican area. 92% hispanic. Her husband went to my school when he was in middle school. My cousin does live in the area I work, so I guess there's always that chance.

Finishing up the week

Need to vent about this week...

Work:
- I subbed Tuesday, and while at the school I never was face to face with the principal, but saw him from a distance 4-5 times. Each time he gave me a blank stare like I wasn't welcome.
- Linda had an issue with the principal today and some things came out that make me even more sure it was nothing that I did, and a completely made up accusation.
- Regardless, I'm still trying to meet with the principal to make sure nothing is written in my file.
- This still kind of has me in a funk, although I know I did no wrong. I hate the lies and deceit. I hate that I have to have a meeting to make sure nothing is put in my file. I hate the extra stress. What I hate is that big topics I'm sensitive about are the ones he used as reasons for getting rid of me, and because I put extra concern into these issues I am worried.
- It was funny while subbing on Tuesday- 1 kid told me I gave up on him, another told me I got tired of him, and lots of other random comments. I was next to my old classroom and the kids saw me when I was subbing. I am glad. I think they were actually riled up because I wasn't there. I know that the teacher that took over was having some issues with 3rd period after they saw me. She was throwing kids out left and right. I only sent 2 kids out from that class in my 4 weeks, and 1 was because she cheated on a test, the other was just mouthing off and I don't take that.
- I picked up my letter of recommendation from my master teacher at the high school this week. It was nice and refreshing to think that someone at least thinks good of me. I know, I know, many do, but after these past few weeks any sign that I am still liked is a good thing and is appreciated.

Home:
- I am very productive on days I don't sub. This week I took my car to the car wash. Damn guy bent my hub cap on my car trying to get the car on the track to pull it through the wash. I realized that later.
Other things I did:
- Cleaned the bathroom and washed the bathroom mats in the washer
- Vacuumed the house
- Mopped the kitchen floor
- Cleaned out 2 random cabinets in the kitchen
- Cleaned out the freezer

School:
- Frustrated and lacking motivation
- The professor for my supposed masters thesis class sent us out a sample paper to help us. He said this was a bad paper and to just do a better job than the bad paper he sent us. Um, that's not teaching. I'm sorry.
- I want to bang my head against the desk every Monday night when I have to sit through that professor's class.
Facebook chat has become my new best friend on Monday nights. We've had a date each week, and it has been wonderful. I got caught up with Marci and Eddy last week.
- It is my goal to finish my paper Monday or Tuesday.
- I have a quiz to complete this week. His quizzes are sooooooooooooo poorly written. The class average was a 2.1 out of 5. I got a 2.25. Each quiz is 5 points. The class is 100 points. Already my grade is about a 93% and lowering because of these dumb quizzes and my Excel assignment.
- This same professor can't give us a direct answer. Ugh.
- My paperwork for my teaching credential STILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL has not been processed. Hello, I submitted it December 27 and it is now February 10. I'm glad I am in no hurry to teach.

Friends and Family:
- I love them. They listen to me bitch and whine. I try to keep that to a minimum, and do a pretty good job. Keith listened to my bitch fest tonight. Bless him. Hahaha.
- Mike got his new car today and I get to see it tomorrow
- My mom and I are going on an adventure to get my TV stand that I wanted for my birthday tomorrow. Woo!
- Linda insisted I invite a friend to go to the hockey game Saturday night. I invited Dennis. Should be fun.
- Sunday I'm going out to Palm Springs with Mike
- The Guy and I will hang out next week when he is back from Sin City.

Music:
I'm really into Rick Treviño after iTunes recommended him to me the other day. I had an epiphany and suddenly I remember my grandma singing his song "Running Out of Reasons" when it came out in I'm guessing about 1996.

And what's really cool about Rick is that he doesn't speak Spanish, but he crossed over and I guess has a pretty good Spanish following. I am on the search for other Spanish country artists... lol.

ATT UVERSE vs. SBC GLOBAL (AT&T)

Hey guys,

I've been doing some research online because our internet is so bad. I've blogged about my problems time and time again with SBC/ATT. I think I have the problem diagnosed as the DSL link retrain is retraining/connecting with the satellite signal 50+ times a day causing for outages. I have been monitoring our network and today it has cut out and retrained 371 times since 1a.m. I sure haven't gone anywhere- so much for doing my homework for my internet class... haha.

We don't have Time Warner, Cox, or any other cable company access where I live where we could get cable internet. Cablevision moved out long ago, and we were forced to go with satellite or nothing for TV. We got Direct TV then. As far as DSL goes we can't do Verizon since they aren't in my area. Verizon Fios looks nice, but will never happen. We have heard to only to satellite We pretty much have a couple choices when it comes to internet- SBC/ATT (SBC was bought out by AT&T I believe- the bill in the mail says AT&T).

I was talking with Eddy from work the other day and he says that he has had SBC Global/AT&T, and now has AT&T Uverse. He says Uverse is much better. He had a lot of problems with SBC/AT&T, but Uverse is fast in comparison, and has had no issues. Is this true? Would our internet really be better with AT&T Uverse? I could easily persuade my parents to switch to AT&T Uverse solely for internet.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

A cat for a few hours

WEDNESDAY

Left for his house at 2:30pm
He was browsing the net when I arrived
We smiled and chatted about the past few days
He looks up a couple happy hours and says we should go get food to cook at Fresh & Easy
He needs a Bank of America, so I pull up a map to one along Route 66
We stop at the Big Lots across from it where he picks up and later puts back some Blue Diamond Almonds
Go to BofA
Go driving down the street looking at decrepit houses and eventually end up at VG
Debate over which happy hour. He lets me choose and I choose Kings Fish House
Dine on a margarita, fish tacos, sushi roll, and ceviche
Eventually end up at Fresh & Easy
No jalapenos, which was sad because I wanted to make jalapeno poppers
Grab lots of veggies and stevia for cookies
Back to his place to put groceries away
Watch SYTYCD and NJ Housewives
I make the cookies and follow the recipe to the T
They don't turn out well... they don't spread out and become really chunky. They had a shortbread consistency
He laughs that I really can't bake cookies
I told him baking is not my forte and we compared the normal chocolate chip cookie recipe and followed that almost exactly. My only guess would be we needed more butter, although we put in what the recipe asked
Watch Kramer and Hot in Cleveland
Watch Happily Divorced and Kramer in the bedroom
Bed about 11

THURSDAY

Up at 8:30
Shower
Make a piece of toast while he dilly daddles in his office
Discuss getting a kitty
Go to WalMart for dirt, but the dirt is expensive
Get odor eaters shoe insoles
Go back to his house and he is looking at doing online courses through the school I just graduated from. I encourage him to set up an admissions appointment.
Take off about 12 for a doctor's appointment
Back from Dr. about 4
Discuss our newly revised vacation plans - my graduation trip- hence the short Austin trip
He wants a cauliflower recipe and suggests Alton Brown after I read the ones I found that mostly fried it
He makes a cheesy cauliflower dish
Eat some of the delicious strawberries
He fixes the stuffed southwest chicken fake we bought at the store to go with the cauliflower
Watch SYTYCD and WWHL
Snack on more strawberries
Watch Seinfeld Soup nazi and Frazier
Bed about 10:30
I pushed that we fool around and we did... I needed that
Took a sleeping pill and about 12:30 I notice my baby isn't in bed and is at the window
The orange and white striped cat that came to his house the night prior when I wasn't there- Monday night I think- came back and he was calling it in
He grabbed the cat and brought it in after coaxing it with treats
Put kitty in bathroom, but it escaped to the other cat's bedroom... worry what the cat has on it
Google the tag phone number and discover it is a city about 30 miles away and was a cell- we knew that part
Cat meows from bathroom and we sleep

FRIDAY

Up at 7:30
I shower and he plays with new cat
He showers then calls owners
Owners say the cat is a neighborhood cat and to let it be
... now we know the cat will be back
Caused problems as he climbed the sliding door screens and left giant toe marks... closed them to avoid that
The talk of a striped kitty slowed
Downloaded iPad apps like monopoly and battleship
Played Battleship together for a while
Got the call about the job and everything with that unfolded
Left about 4:30 to go to Eddy's goodbye party

Some student teaching thoughts

I've been pretty vague about my student teaching experiences. Honestly I could not ask for better experiences. The 3 teachers I've had are polar opposites. It has allowed me to grow and has allowed me freedom. I have had a blast- if only I were getting paid!

Here's some random things I've learned/realized/find amusing:
- The kids really like me
- I was worried about a balance between being hated and liked
- It is really exciting to see how the kids respond to me
- I love the power I hold
- I like building a good rapport with the teachers I'm working with
- I question whether I'm too strict/too easy with grades- still finding my balance
- I love the freedom that I have had in both of my student teaching positions. This current one allows me to go to lunch with my tutor friends like Darla and Eddy.
- I love that both of my teachers are very laid back
- I love that I have the male football coach and athletic, cheerleader type as master teachers
- One means business in his class and the other is very lovey dovey, we'll get through this together
- I enjoy being close to home in my current position.
- I like that I have actually had the opportunity to plan and bring in my own ideas in my current position.
- I had days where I felt very incompetent with Linda mainly because her thinking/planning was so different than other teachers. It altered my thinking, but allowed me to grow and see how she does it. I have some good ideas.
- Linda really taught me how to engage the students
- The kids genuinely seem to want to please me
- Linda also taught me to create activities that were hands on for the students
- Middle schoolers need to be controlled much more than high schoolers. I have to be controlling and dictating, which is taxing on me physically
- I can be much more relaxed with high schoolers, which I like
- I would not be as relaxed as my cheerleader master teacher, but I would be more relaxed than at middle school
- I tend to think I'll end up at a high school, but would be content at a middle school
- I hate grading
- I am thankful that both of my master teachers have been really cool about dividing up the grading
- I want a TA if I have high schoolers.
- I need my own class already, please.

Nearly a month

I've been meaning to blog, but I've been so busy. Here's the rundown:

- Thanksgiving was good. Mike brought spiked cider to my cousin's. My uncle is very anti-drinking, so that was his way of getting some in. Just so happens my cousin had a friend there who was opening up bottles of wine. The wine hardly got drank, so Mike had to polish it off at the end. I didn't really hang out with my parents at Thanksgiving. My mom could hardly walk, so she was pretty stationary in one of the chairs. I did go and talk a little bit to her. Felt kind of bad.

- Spent some time in the hospital - only an evening - esophagus constriction - glad that's over

- My mom's hip replacement didn't go so well she found out - she's been in excruciating pain for over a month. Turns out the hip wasn't cemented into the joint properly. She has an appointment later this week to find out what, if anything, they can do to fix it.

- Last week of work. So excited. Lots of grading. Lots of teaching. Lots of high kids.

- New admin, both principal and VP. Lots of feeling everything out.

- Spent the weekend, Saturday, with J&B, exploring Newport Beach. We don't need to go back. We ran into a bunch of Santas doing the Santa Pub Crawl. We started off with lunch at a seafood place. Good to catch up.

- Went off to the Christmas party for my old school - the party for my new school was at the same time, but I didn't want to go to that one as much. EXCELLENT time catching up with old friends. Apparently there was some apple pie cider spiked with moonshine that got me talking. I apparently knew everyone.

- Yesterday morning we had brunch, everyone was probably hungover from the night before... good to have my coworkers over. Love them. So glad Mike helped and did all the cooking and buying. I cleaned.

- SOOOO excited for this weekend. Going up the coast, then spending some time with Mike's cousin and hopefully aunt. They're both really fun to be around.

- Christmas should be a blast.

- NY is so near. Cannot wait. So many people to see, things to do, and places to go. My list is mainly eating places - a couple of restaurants and bars. I am so sad Mike's friend is no longer in the West Village. I loved it there. She's now in Brooklyn. I feel like that's so Miranda from Sex and the City, and what happens in Brooklyn? Want to go to some of the popup shops. Want to visit my favorite shops - Century 21, ABC Home, Fishs Eddy, and a couple more. NYE is gonna be a big dinner with a bunch of friends, cooking, and celebrating.
